1st DVC Booking - Oct 2008

We just closed on our 120 point SSR resale contract and I will be calling to book our 1st DVC reservation within the next couple of months. We're planning a trip in Oct 2008 for our son's 3rd birthday and we also will have twin 1 year olds at the time. Our home resort is SSR and we'll probably book a 2BR in case some friends / family want to come as well.

Can anyone advise if that will be a tough time of year to get a 2BR? Is it better to go early or late Oct? Can the 5 of us stay in the 1BR?

Also, if we end up booking the 2BR and no one else comes, can we lock off the studio part and rent that out? We probably wouldn't do that but want to know if it's an option.

I guess you're talking about a two-bedroom lockoff. You wouldn't be able to "rent out" the studio part, because all room keys for both parts of the lockoff will get you into either the studio or the one-bedroom unit.
