loss of a tooth!

Granddaughter started 1st grade yesterday and after the schoolbus dropped her off, her other Grandpa (on her Dad's side) took her to get ice cream to celebrate..

She bit into the cone - went to take another bite - and said, "Grandpa, there's something "red" in my vanilla ice cream!" Grandpa took the cone - examined it carefully - and there it was - her front bottom tooth sticking out of the ice cream - LOL..

Her school pictures are being taken on the 21st of this month and she said, "No way I'm gonna open my mouth to smile!!"

Her teacher (a real sweetheart) gave her this adorable certificate today with an animal on it (maybe a beaver or a chipmunk - can't remember right now.) Anyhow it reads "I Lost My First Tooth!" - and then on the lines underneath that the teacher wrote in my granddaughter's name - "Lost her 1st tooth, on the 1st day of school, in the 1st grade!" - then dated and signed it.. Wasn't that the sweetest thing to do?

Oh - and the "Tooth Fairy" left a dollar bill under her pillow last night.. Now she's thinking she'd like to lose several more - LOL..

My DD is in the first grade too, but thankfully still has no concept of money, so she gets very excited about 100 pennies more than a dollar!
