My husband and I have wanted to take our daughter to Disney World for her first birthday since before she was born. Her birthday will be at the end of February and we cannot wait to go! Anyone with experience having their child's birthday in Disney World, please help. I've only been to Disney once in my adult life and I only went twice as a child and don't remember very clearly. What are some fun and exciting things I should plan for her? We were thinking Cinderella's Royal Table for her birthday meal, aside from that I have no clue what to do. I know there's probably a ton of things I would be able to do with her but I'm overwhelmed looking for them. Anyone with experience willing to help me? Thank you so much!

We are taking our daughter for her first birthday trip in December! We have a lot of dining reservations, we also decided to do the fantastic dinner package so we wouldn't have to wait in line for good seats with such a young child! Since we are going in December, we also booked the candlelight dinner package at epcot for the same reasons...in other words trying to do things the least stressful way! We are going to do a Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert Party for fireworks one night too. My husband is super excited about this - we made an appointment at the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom for her first haircut, they get a cute pair of ears and a certificate etc. We are also going to get a special cake made for the night of her birthday. One other thing we are doing is a photo shoot - we got married in Disney, and our wedding photographer left Disney's Photography and now works independently in Orlando, we loved our pics so much that we are having her do a 1st birthday shoot/family photo shoot around the Boardwalk, Yacht/Beach Club! I hope you have a great time on your trip!!!

Go to Guest Relations (at every park's entrance) on your first park day and get the button indicating your child is celebrating a birthday. Have your child wear it (or display on the stroller, whatever) constantly. Your child will get lots of extra attention throughout your trip. Consider a special hat, too. The hat shop just after you enter MK usually has something -- and they can add your child's name, etc.

On every ADR, note that you are celebrating a birthday. We have had great experiences birthday character meal experiences for my kids at 1900 Park Fair (in Grand Floridian), Ohana breakfast, and Crystal Palace (even gave them stuffed animals!). If your child dresses up like one of the characters, it can make it extra fun. Remind your server that you are celebrating a birthday. Do this EVERY day of your trip - not just on the birthday.

Make sure it is on your Disney resort hotel reservation, too. We've gotten balloons, cards signed by various characters, etc. from the resorts.

We also went to Downtown Disney and the Build A Bear company has a store in T-Rex (with dinosaurs). So my oldest son has "Din-O-Saur" (the name on the birth certificate) that shares his birthday from his 3rd birthday visit.

Go shopping after Halloween and stock up on (inexpensive and easy to wear around WDW) Disney character outfits for your child. Bring them along and dress up your child at some point in the parks and/or at character meals every day. Makes them feel extra special.
