My DD will turn one year old on our first day in the park this May. Understanding that she isn't going to really "get" any sort of birthday fuss, would you still do something? If so, what? It will be me, DH and DS(13) who dotes on her. Is there a commermerative experience or keepsake that you would count as a "must have"?

This is just what I would do. I would get her a cute 1st disney bday shirt and tutu from somewhere like etsy. I would get her a birthday button at City Hall or hotel if staying onsite. I would get her a spinning light up Disney character toy to play with. I would either do a character meal (for everyone, but order a cupcake for her to have), or get her a birthday bucket. I would take tons of pictures. The carousel is one of my favorite picutre places, for little bday babes. So is Dumbo. She will have fun no matter what you do, really.

I dunno how much you are wanting to spend, but there is a jewelery store on Main Street where you could also get her a little necklace as a keepsake later on, as a little reminder when she gets older that she started going to DL when she was one yrs old. They have some inexpensive items in there as well so I would at least have a peek.

If she is really into the princess thing what you can do is take her to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and get her a princess dress then have her hair done with a tiara in it. It isn't that expensive depending on what dress you choose. If you want to be cheaper with the dress go to the disney store and buy it before you leave and take it with you on your trip. That is what I did with my daughter last year who turned 8 during our trip and she was shocked at what she looked like after they did her hair and everything.

And don't forget the embroidered mickey ears hat. Love the idea of having the characters sign a first b-day card and of course be sure to have her wear a b-day girl shirt adn the button from main street guest services with her name on it. If she recognizes the voices of characters you can also have her pick up the phone in guest services for a special b-day greeting (if I remember correctly it is from goofy).

They won't take a 1 year old. They have to be at least 3.

I think you can get 1st birthday on the Mickey ears along with her name. I've seen first visit.

I think a great keepsake is the Silhouette Studio on Main Street. You could do one of just her and one of both kids, etc.

Here are a few things I would recommend:

-Free birthday button obtainable from Town Hall
-Mickey Ears (You can get My first ears written on them and the name)
-A tradition in my family is Xmas Ornaments (And disney carries them year round). It will be something that they can keep forever and won't outgrow. Usually they have a bday or first visit one.
- If it is a first visit a free first visit pin from town hall.
-A charm for a charm bracelet for her. Disney has some cute charms for a few different types of charm bracelets that are reasonably priced.
- Pictures! Remember you can always ask a cast member to take a picture for you and we, I mean um they, would be more than happy to take a picture of all of you.
-Maybe if she has a favorite character, have a few of them sign a card for her with Birthday wishes? It would be something awesome to keep for the future :)
