------------------That sounds very frustrating!! Do you have a cell number you could give to your doctor, and then unplug your home phone?
This makes me happy I'm not in a battleground state!
Political (and other unsolicited callers) have been treated to DS's vesion of "Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Letters In Mouth" ( a song he learned at school) and "Rocket Man".
(And no - I am not going to - nor should I have to - pay $35 extra a month on my phone bill to have caller ID to avoid people who have no business calling me to begin with..)
With their political polling nonsense, I swear I'm going to scream so loud they'll be able to hear me in D.C. !!!!!!!!!![]()

I don't have caller ID here and I have to answer the phone for the next day and a half because I'm waiting for a doctors office to call with information they will not leave on an answering machine - they will simply hang up and try again later..
So who calls? People pushing their political propaganda and wanting to "poll" me.. How many times do you have to tell them you're not interested before they get the message and back off?
After the last round of this, I was simply keeping my phone off the hook - but that's not an option right now..
Someone please move the election up to tonight!!!!![]()

Okay.. I'm done venting..![]()
---------------------$35 a month for caller ID??? Usually it is only a few dollars extra a month or part of a package. If you don't want to pay whatever it is, that is your choice. But the technology IS out there to avoid this kind of thing if you change your mind..

That stinks you can't get cell phone coverage.
I love caller ID for this reason too. I went thru a few months of non-stop "your vehicle warranty is about to exprire!!!!" calls (and um...my car warranty expired years ago LOL) and they made me NUTS.
I just moved, have an unlisted number and so far, so good!
-------------------I know the calls are very annoying, BUT my 17 year old DS has become very active in the POTUS race this year. He wanted to see Hillary Clinton speak at our local high school. He had to work the phones for 3 hours to get a ticket to see her. This week he wants to hear Sarah Palin speak when she comes to Indy. For one ticket to that event he had to make 100 phone calls.
I asked him how people react when he calls and he said most people are really nice to him.
He isn't old enough to vote yet, but he does have real life experience in both sides of the campaigns.

------------------C. Ann, call your doctor's office and tell them you are being overrun with political calls and you will be screening your calls until the election is over. Talk to a real person and ask them to have the person from the doctor's office call and leave a message to return the call on your answering machine. "Hi, C. Ann, it's Doctor so and so's office, please call back and ask for Nurse Ratched" is something they should be willing to do. Then don't answer the phone and wait until you have a message on your machine. Problem solved.
