What are the signs? I was around someone recently that I have reason to wonder about.. I don't see this person extremely often, but two of the things I noticed was "disappearing" for short amounts of time (a few minutes or so) - returning with a very, very runny nose - and hands shaking unlike anything I have ever seen before..

Would it cause anything else like slurred speech; stumbling; or other very obvious signs?

Not really....but snorting heroine would. Which is big these days....Snorting Oxycontin would have the same result

I dated a guy who was addicted to crack cocaine. The telltale symptoms when he had been using were glassy eyes, slurred speech, and extreme hyperactivity (laughing alot and trying to joke around even at things that weren't funny).

When he was jonesing for a fix he was extemely nervous, irritable and fidgety.

I dated a guy in college very briefly (as soon as I found out he was a cokehead, it was over). He was bouncing off the walls hyperactive!!

He went to the Citadel in South Carolina and when I was trying to break up with him, he freaked. He ran his Ford Explorer into a telephone pole!!! The cops came and I was crying and telling them he was drunk and high on coke. They told me to stop slandering a "nice young man" before I found myself behing bars!!

I walked to a hotel and called my parents to pick me up.

I think doing Heron has the same effects on people as well as snorting the powder..I don't know what the term is when one burns it off a spoon? I have seen it done before but never stupid enough to do it.But the people I have seen on it had those symptoms if you will, but of course the same could be said for Cocaine, Heroin, and as a previous poster said Oxy... I have never touched any of that stuff it is beyond dumb keep it natural keep it safe lol

The signs wouldn't be all the obvious unless they were a heavy, heavy user. Runny nose wouldn't necessarily occur right after the deed but that is mostly because people tend to suck that stuff back in their nasal cavity (it's called the drip). Unless doing excessive amounts at a time shaky hands would not mean they were on coke, it usually wouldn't do it.

I used to bartend, and I could always tell when someone did a nip. Paranoid, wild looking eyes, they would keep clearing their throat.

Mostly that wild eyed thing, though....

white powder all around their nostrils is usually a sign of snorting coke.
