Grand Funk Railroad - Locomotion

Everybody's doing a brand new dance now
Come on, baby, do the locomotion
I know you'll get to like it if you give it a chance now
Come on, baby, do the locomotion
My little baby sister can do it with ease
It's easier than learnin' your ABC's
So come on, come on, do the locomotion with me

You gotta swing your hips now
Come on baby, jump up, jump back
Oh, well, I think you got the knack

Now that you can do it, let's make a chain now
C'mon, baby, do the loco-motion
A chuga chuga motion like a railroad train now
Come on, baby, do the loco-motion
Do it nice and easy now, don't lose control
A little bit of rhythm and a lot of soul.
Come on, come on, do the locomotion with me
Come on, baby, do the locomotion

Move around the floor in a locomotion
C'mon, baby, do the locomotion
Do it holdin' hands if you get the notion
Come on, baby, do the locomotion
There's never been a dance that's so easy to do
It even makes you happy when you're feelin' blue
So come on, come on, do the locomotion with me
Come on, baby, do the locomotion

 :teeth: :goodvibes :woohoo:

Yep!!! Although I was born that year I do know it.

How sad, I remember the original version from the 60's by Little Eva. I've got to go find my geritol.

I sitll hear it on the radio here. The Little Eva version was good too. :)

Did you know that Carole King wrote Locomotion? I prefer the Little Eva version

Sandy

We used to dance to that in my girlfriend's kitchen, a whole group of girls - they had a big country kitchen. Boy is that a memory! :rotfl:

One of my best memories as a young girl is my Mom teaching me how to do the Locomotion.

Wow, that's going back! I remember that being played at my Jr. high dances. Sure doesn't feel like it was that long ago. Guess I'm getting old. :sad2:

Me too.......pass me the geritol :lmao: :lmao:

Yep remeber it well and the original too as I graduated high school in 1974. :sunny: My aunt was 13 years younger than my dad so we got to do many things with her in the summers It was like having an older sister. :sunny:

I remember the 80's Kylie Monguie (?) version. :sad2: I was born in '74 so I don't remember the original.

That was my favorite song when i was really young. I was born in 72. I played it over and over on my sisters record player. I had kept the old 45 until i got married in 1994. I wish that i would have kept it. I dont know how much it would be worth now on ebay.

I remember the '74 version, but LOVED the Kylie Monogue version in the 80's ;)

i do like the other versions also..i heard the Grand Funk version playing yesterday and wanted to get up and dance lol :)

The album, "Shinin' On", had one of the coolest album covers ever. It was in 3D and you could take the 3D glasses off the cover and look at all the stars and comets! Far out! :hippie: It ranks right up there with Alice Cooper's "Schools Out" album cover.

I remember being 10 years old in the summer of '74 and listening to that song blaring out of the jukebox at an arcade at the beach. I can almost picture myself standing on the cool concrete floor, gritty wet sand between my toes, wet hair sticking to my forehead, chugging a Coke, and playing pinball.

Thanks for the momentary mental vacation.

Boy, do I ever remember that song! We had dancing lessons in PE class in middle school (in 1977), and the Locomotion was one of the dances we learned. We hated dancing lessons, because we had to dance with boys !!! :rotfl:
