we have done ohana every trip, last year i said i was going to take a break from it because we were disappointed. Waited forever to be seated, our server was just miserable, didnt bring the breads to our table n when we asked he seemed like it was a chore, and it lost its special touch, we didnt get leis. idk just weird BUT i think i my 2 year old might really like it this year because she likes the movie and the music and i think she might like that little parade around the restaurant. we have never done 1900 pf for breakfast, my daughter also really likes mary poppins and pooh but i am afraid she may get scared of mad hatter. do they have a parade type thing? we are also doing cape may cafe bc we are staying at beach club.

1900PF has better food variety, being a buffet. The Mad Hatter is a face character, so he's well-able to turn it up or tone it down to audience.

If you're doing Cape May, I'd say 1900PF might be really good because the characters are so different.

One thing to consider with a 2 YO is that at the buffet you are up and down getting food, which can be difficult with a toddler. At 'OHana they bring the food to you.

I know it is tough when you have a bad server or experience at a restaurant to get over it and want to try it again, but my feeling is this: I don't think any of the restaurants have a culture of bad servers. For the most part, you can get a bad server anywhere... I have seen reports of bad servers at nearly every restaurants, up to and including the signatures. I think the only place that might be totally immune is victoria and alberts because they truly get the cream of the crop there. So I would not say that if you get a bad server that it means the restaurant is going downhill. It means... they hired a bad server and you drew the short straw. Which sucks but I don't think it means anything about the restaurant in general.

I will say that what @Hopefully said is 100% true IME. Family style meals are way easier than buffets. I loved the character interaction at Ohana breakfast and although the food was more basic it was hot, filling and good (tables of two are always served way too much food at family style places anyway.

But I also agree about face character interaction, I would be willing to bet that they are quite familiar with how little kids might react and probably start of more gentle unless they get a kid who is playing along and boisterous. At 2 it's hard to tell how your child will react, mine loved the fuzzy characters but was less sure of face characters for some reason.

My DD13 and I did both last year. She (and I) love Lilo & Stitch so we were looking forward to Ohana. We arrived shortly before our ADR time and there was a line. No biggie, I expect that. There was a family in front of us that asked if there was a table available and they were told no and that they should have made a reservation, that would be the only way to eat there. We walked up and were handed a pager that went off less than 2 minutes later. We walked in and the restaurant was over half EMPTY! I couldn't believe they turned away that family, and made us actually take a pager and sit down before seating us. The food was very good, the service was ok, but the character interaction there was not great. Mickey came to our table before we were even sitting. I thought he was just swinging by to say hi, so I waved and sat down and he just stood there. I was like "Oh, wait, let me get my camera out". He stood with my DD and took a picture and was gone, same with everyone but Stitch. We both DisneyBounded (I was Lilo, she was Stitch) and Stitch was the only character who noticed and pointed it out. Stitch was great, but Stitch was also great at MK that trip, so we'll probably not go back.
1900PF was awesome, everything about it. We arrived about 15 minutes before our ADR and were seated right away - no pager. Our server was great, and the character interaction there was the best! Tigger and Pooh were their usual fun selves. Mary Poppins was practically perfect ;) Alice was super cute and loved our hair bows (Mickey and Minnie) and told us how she wanted her own hair bows just like ours! The Mad Hatter was amazing!! I loved watching him interact with other guests before arriving at our table, but he really went all out with us. Both my DD and I were eating strawberry soup when he arrived and he looked down and said "Ewwww! What in the world is that?!" My DD said it was strawberry soup and that it was delicious. He said "Oh, yes, it is delicious, but you're eating it wrong!" He then ran around the restaurant and went in the back. I thought he left, but he came running out yelling "HERE!!! THESE WILL MAKE IT BETTER!!!" He had straws. He made my DD and I have a strawberry soup drinking contest! Oh we couldn't drink any we were laughing so hard, but it was so much fun!
I will tell you, when we were there the Mad Hatter was very good about reading people and responding to them. There was a young girl at the table next to us who was a little terrified of him, but he was quiet and gentle with her and made fun of her ugly (ET) doll. She was laughing by the time he left their table.
If you've never done 1900PF, I suggest giving it a try, I don't think you'll regret it!

Thanks, that is very reassuring to hear that she may not be afraid of the mad hatter. My oldest might get a kick out of him haha. Sounds like a good time, maybe I will cancel Ohana. I'm not too concerned about a buffet, (having to get up and down with my daughter) bc my husband and parents will be there to help so someone can stay with her while i get the food.

Thanks for poster. I've been debating this very question for our last day/last meal. I think I'll switch to 1900 park fare. (switched from Poly to GF, and eating at Ohana for dinner).

This opinion isn't worth the paper it's written on, because it's been a while for both restaurants, but here were our likes and dislikes:
Ohana:
4 breakfast
Food was good
Very relaxing they brought the food to us - CM walked around with different dishes
CM's/Characters - did a excellent job getting the kids up dancing around
Not big Stitch fans, but many of the regular Disney Characters are their as well.

1900:
1 breakfast
Food was very good
Mad house - too many tables crammed into a nondescript interior room.
Character interaction is good
