We're thinking of trying 1900 Park Fare for dinner on an upcoming trip. I think the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine are there as characters. What are they like?:confused3

Will my DD 5 be scared silly? Or, are they friendly and kind? She gets upset easily when people aren't treating each other nicely, and I'm worried that she will freak out. Does Cinderella hang out with them?

Thanks for your help!:goodvibes

They aren't mean to each other at all... they might call out to each other that they found a guy to marry, etc. One might call back to the other that he had already promised to marry her or something like that, but no fighting/arguing... just playfulness.

My son even asked one of the stepsisters why she was so mean to Cinderella and she told him that she's not mean to her, that was all in the past and that they get along great now and are good friends.

We had a great time, it was a fun meal and we enjoyed the food too!

I have a sensitive 5 year old DD and she loved 1900 Park Fare. The stepmother and stepsisters were a riot (it was mostly jesting and whining nothing too mean) and Cinderella and Prince Charming were lovely. After posing with the Prince, DD smiled and blushed. The characters seem to have a good sense of how much and what kind of antics each child can handle.

We are going to try this for dinner in 3 weeks, cant wait.

I hear the stepsisters and stepmother are really into character, very loud and shrieking, high shrill voices so I do not know how my 6 year old niece will react but we are going to give it a try anyways

Does Cinderella walk around, and you pose with the prince?

I think as long as my DD can spot Cinderella she might do OK.;)

Would love to hear more stories... anyone?:goodvibes

All of the characters (including Cinderella and Prince Charming) stop at your table, sign autographs (bring a book - you'll be glad you did), chat briefly and will pose for a picture. They also dance!:goodvibes

My dd was really nervous around Lady Tremaine. She's not mean to the kids but will give you the "evil eye". I think it helps if you do have a scared child to announce it. We said something like "here's the stepmother, don't worry, she won't scare you" just to let the CM know. The CM's are "in character" but they want to entertain - not scare little kids.

The stepsisters are no problem as they are just loud in a funny way and are very friendly. Cinderella and Prince Charming are very sweet.

I think you'll like the character experience here. They all really do a great job. Dd and ds both enjoy 1900.

We went to the 1900 park fare April 2008. My dd (3 yrs at the time) LOVED it! That is the first thing she has asked to do when we go back this May. She loves watching Cinderella! The characters were great! They are not mean to each other or anything. The stepsisters call out to each other or I guess you would say, Yell to each other, but not the whole time. Prince Charming and Cinderella are there and so is the wicked stepmother! It was a great experience and make sure you try the strawberry soup! AWESOME!

:thumbsup2

I highly recommend this for dinner. As the characters are a blast. I was laughing the entire dinner and they are so spontaneous and so in character. I will see if I can post a picture of my daughter, her face when she sees Cindy is priceless as well as her with the stepmother. My DD2 wanted nothing to do with princesses so for the most part they kept their distance and signed his book, although one step sister did stand behind his chair and get a picture and he was fine with it.

They are great! My 5 and 7 year old loved them! They stay in great character, my 14 month old screamed when her sister took her roll and the stepmom yelled at her and said "we will NOT be having any of that noise in here!" she just stopped and stared at her, it was really funny :rotfl: One of my favorite character meals, have fun!

I highly recommend this dinner too. It's very entertaining and the food is really good (imagine that). The stepsisters are a lot of fun. I think it was our favorite character meal. Here are some photos:

Have a great trip!

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences! We are going with friends for the first time and their little girl is 5 and doesn't like anything "mean" so we were unsure of this meal. Just like the OP we were worried about her being scared.

The rest of the kids in our group are boys who don't really want to go to a Princess-y thing, so I think that this might be a good compromise - especially since I am blessed to be a mom of only boys (and grew up with brothers and all their friends and nothing girly) so I think I deserve at least one itty-bitty, semi-princess-y thing during my first ever trip to WDW.:rotfl:

The pictures are wonderful--thank you for posting them!

I'm feeling good about this dinner after all of the comments now. It is so hard with little ones--you never know how they will react!

Our favorite meal by FAR!

My Dad still talks about how much he loved the food, and my girls got to spend real TIME with the characters (more than just pose, snap, gone!). My dd#1 danced with Prince Charming and my dd#2 (just 2yo at the time!) ADORED Lady Tremaine. She's more disdainful than scary, and was riotously funny, IMO, with her improvisational skills. She was completely in character the entire time, but didn't seem scripted at all.

We ALL loved that meal and will absolutely be doing it again!

The character line-up has changed since the last time we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare, so we are definately going to go back in April. :thumbsup2 DD7 is so excited to finally meet Lady Tremaine and the Step-sisters.
