I booked boma and 1900 park fare for the same night and need to decide. The boys are already doing the ohana character bfast (but are petrified of the costumes) and Boma sounds MUCH better in quality. But 1900 has less scary characters (the boys tell me it's okay because they can see the faces, but the stepmother still may be scary)

What would you do? We are doing coral reef for them too - and that quality sounds questionable. It sounds nice to have one really good meal for us.

We've been to Boma, 1900 and the Coral Reef and liked them all! I would chose Boma - it was a lovely buffet with more interesting food the 1900. But DD liked the food at 1900 better. As for the Coral Reef, we had seats right at the wall - as far from the glass as we could get but had a great meal and a great time!
GL:)

We have eaten dinner at 1900 PF twice now and absolutely love it! Great character interaction and great food!

We ate at Coral Reef for lunch this past July for the first time....I was very nervous about this ADR due to the negative reviews but was glad that we went ahead and ate there...it was really good...we all enjoyed it very much!

We were a party of 10 this past August and we went to both 1900 Park Fare and Boma. I really liked Boma and I could see myself going back every 3 trips or so. Most of our party didn't care for the "different" foods at Boma but everyone found something to eat there. Everyone, however, LOVED Park Fare!

Maybe some pics will help! :rolleyes1 These are from last August at 1900 - had a ressie right at 4:30 when they opened. We thought the food was great, character interaction was just eh. And it was a very LONG meal - over 1.5 hours before all the characters made it around.

wow thanks for the photos!! Sounds like most of you still liked 1900. How am I going to choose!! :) I may have to fit in the fourth TS (since we are also doing Ohana) and just pay extra for it. Not to find the day to fit it in!!!

We did 1900 Park Fare for both breakfast and dinner during our trip in June. We LOVED both meals. The character interaction was wonderful and the food was delicious. If you do go, make sure to try the strawberry soup! :)

How about switching things a bit by cancelling 'Ohana:

1900 Park Fare breakfast
Boma dinner

or vice versa, Boma has the best breakfast at WDW

Been to both dinners, and Boma is my favorite. Food and service are excellent, and 1900PF was just okay.

We just did 1900 for both breakfast and dinner during a 10 night trip. Honestly, the dinner was the worst meal of the trip. We picked the two meals because those were the characters my kids were interested in meeting. Maybe we just had an off night or something because it seems that everyone else here enjoyed it, but we will not go again.

My parents wound up switching one of their reservations to Boma and loved it. (It was too late for us with the kids--9pm) They said it's a must-do for next trip.

We did Coral Reef our first night. The service was extremely slow (we were there about 2 hours), but we enjoyed the food and watching the animals. My kids liked the lobster soup and fish entree.

If your kids are scared of the characters, perhaps you could switch Ohana BF for dinner? Every person in our group named this as their favorite meal of the trip. (We even tried to make a reservation for a second night.) The food was good, the server and chef were very friendly, the kids had tons of fun participating in the games, and we really enjoyed the resort. :thumbsup2

We were at 1900 Park Fare last Dec and absolutely hated it. It was by far the worst meal of the trip. The dessert bar had just a few of each item and the entire area was filthy. My DS then 7 ate a few bites of the fruit and that's it we ended up at the hotel food court getting him something to eat. Both DH and myself were very disappointed in the meal. My DS also felt very intimidated by Lady Tramaine and begged not to go back there this year.

I can only speak about breakfast in Oct. 2009 but we are going to the 1900 PF dinner next trip. I can't imagine that the dinner food is bad. I have heard that the wait for dinner can be long... so we are going at 4:30pm when 1900 PF first opens for dinner to hopefully avoid that.

Breakfast was quite a full buffet. All the food was fresh. There was a yogurt bar, cereal, pastries and breakfast breads, sausage and gravy, cream chipped beef, custom omelets, lobster eggs benedict (yum), breakfast meats, etc.... Service was great! Characters were very nice, especially Mary Poppins and the Mad Hatter... the Mad Hatter was.... well.... Mad! (as in crazy). He was very loud and funny. Alice is a bore. Mary Poppins was quite true to form... Tigger and Pooh were there too.

I'm looking forward to trying dinner. I'm pleased that they have the strawberry soup at dinner too. It's Mary Poppins' favorite! When people say the dinner food was bad, I wonder what the comparison is. I think Crystal Palace has an awesome lunch and dinner buffet. Hollywood and Vine, not so much... but I still wouldn't say H&V is "bad", but certainly nothing notable. We use the dining plan, but if I was paying cash at the end of each meal, I might get more upset about the food quality at H&V.

In 2009, we met Lady Tremaine and the stepsisters at MNSSHP and they were quite a riot. Cinderella and Prince can dance with the little girls. We are going to see L. Tremaine, Anastasia and Drizella!

I would choose Boma. I love it but my hubby doesn't like it so we no longer go there. But let me explain why he doesn't like it before you think it is bad. We went a few years ago when our daughter was 1 years old and we had been at AK all day and there was extra magic hours there and our reservation was for very late. Our daughter was very cranky when we finally got to Boma because we waited too long to feed her and she was tired and we didn't realize she was getting a cold. So my husband didn't like the meal. So in January we are going to 1900 Park Fare for both breakfast and dinner because our daughter is 3 years old and is going to love the character interaction. I just hope we like the food. But if I could, I would go to Boma.

Seems like I'm in the minority but I loved the 1900 Park Fare. We went a few years ago with my son who was infatuated with Cinderella lol. The characters were great and I loved the food. They had some kind of cold strawberry soup that was sooo yummy! It was good for my then picky son too. The carving stations were great.
I wish I could get a reservation there this trip :sad2:

Did both last year - both were great.

Kids and wife preferred 1900 - found food at Boma a bit too adventuresome. I disagree and feel there are plenty of normal food at Boma, but be advised that was their opinion.

I felt the food at 1900 far exceeded expectations - I expected the Golden Coral type garbage you get at Chef Mickey's but it was a big step above that in quality.
