DD and I will be celebrating her 18th birthday at WDW in Dec., and I'd like to try to do something special for her We'll be eating lunch at Crystal Palace, dinners at Chefs de France, Kona Cafe, and PTC, and breakfast at Cape May. I'd love some suggestions in at least one of the restaurants we're eating at. Any suggestions for these restaurants? TIA

Hi, I had my 21st whilst we were in WDW and they made a huge fuss when they found out! If you let the restaurant know they will be sure to make it special for her - I even got a free birthday cake in the California Grill! I think most Disney restaurants are good at celebrating birthdays if they know about them, so maybe which ever one is her favourite? If your stuck for somewhere special - we loved California Grill & Jikos!

This past August our family celebrated a double birthday, mine and DD's 18th. We only did one of your upcoming dinners but I must say it was the most memorable of our whole birthday trip. We had a delicious dinner at Les Chef's de France and were completely taken off guard when our sever, Yoann, ended our meal by bringing our desserts complete with candles across the room with other CM's singing Happy Birthday in French. It was special because it wasn't planned. I wasn't waiting for a personalized menu to be delivered or a diver to show. I didn't have to worry if the cake was going to make it to our table. We did wear our birthday buttons and got many well wishes from CM's and guests alike but I'll never forget our dinner at Les Chef's.

All the restaurants are great when it comes to special occassions. I would also call and arrange for a personalized menu.

There is actually no guarantee that the restaurant will do anything. You can always order a cake ahead of time if you want to be sure. There is a special thread devoted to just that on this board.

Now, that being said, most restaurants do bring out a cute cupcake if it is noted on your reservation. Sometimes you get singing, sometimes you don't.
Beside noting it on your reservation, I would mention it to your server as well.

We were there for both DS and DD birthday's this year. At the four restaurants we ate at those two days, one did cupcake and singing, one did cupcake, and two did nothing, no acknowledgment at all.

Just know it's not an automatic thing.:)

I called the WDW-Dine number the other day, and they did note on our ressies about the birthday. I asked if I could have numbers to call the restaurants to make other arrangements and the CM said no. How do I go about making arrangements at specific restaurants?

Thanks for the suggestions.
