180 day window approaching; not sure of party size

Our 180-dining reservation window opens at the end of this month. My family's little party of three is definitely going. However, my parents may or not be going. They will be staying in a separate room if they go and they probably will not be booking their reservation any time soon.

I would like to book my reservations ASAP. I've read some of the threads that address the credit card guarantee restaurants and can see that it won't be a financial issue if I make the reservations for five but only three show up.

However, will there be a timing issue? If we have a reservation for five and only three show up will be waiting a longer time for them to find us the "appropriate" table?

Make them for as many people as you think may be there. It is much easier to remove persons from an ADR than it is to add them later and keep the same reservation.

If you are booking any prepaid reservations you'll need to remove them when you know they are not coming.

No way to know about the timing issue, there might be, or there might not be.
