We leave October 11 for our Disney vacation(not our first by any means) but a question about the 180+10 policy .. Since we are 281 days away we are starting to think about where we would like to dine on this trip, we have always booked on the 180 day mark but what is this+10 I keep seeing? Does it mean you're actually booking at the 190 day mark? Is it only for AP holders?? Please explain!

No. You still book at 180 days out. But if you are staying at a Disney resort you can book the first 10 days of your trip. It saves you from calling or going online every day for 10 days if you want to book each day 180 days out.

Good question! I never understood that till now. Good to know!

Can I ask a couple tangent question about 180+10?

If I am booked on site with my family of 4, but another part of my family (6 additional) will be joining me for part of the vation and is staying offsite. Can I book reservations in that +10 window for the entire family or can I only make reservations for 4?

If my trip is longer than 10 days (2 week vacation planned here). If I were to arrive on Nov 10 and leave on Nov 25 I could book reservations for Nov 10-19 on May 14 (180 days out from Nov 10) and then book each additional day the next day so on May 15th I could book the 20th, May 16th the 21st, etc? Is that right or would I have to wait until 180 days from the 11th day to book the rest of the trip?

They don't ask for names of everyone, just a headcount.

Book Nov 10-20 May 14, then the remaining days each subsequent day. Optionally, you may just wait to book all of them until 180 from the 11th day of your trip. It all depends on how important certain reservations are for your group and which places you are trying to book for. I'd go with the first option of booking as soon as possible, but that's just me.

Hope that helps

Ok can you please help me, I am confused by this. My reservations are for 8/21/2012-8/28/2012, On disney's website they said I can start booking online my ADR's on 2/23/2012, when I used a calculator it was 02/17/2012, when can I start truly my 180 plus 10, the date I am not a mathematician LOL LOL. Any help would be appreciated. Would be 2/7??? Or am I way off. :rotfl2:

180+10 does not equal 190 days when referring to ADRs.

On 2/23, you can make reservations for up to 10 days of your vacation (if staying at a Disney resort), that is what +10 means.

Your 180 day date is 2/23. There is a calculator right here on the DIS, so you don't have to count on a calendar.

Thank you I feel so dumb but it was really confusing and thanks again so very much!!!!!!:cool1:

You can book your ADR's online for the 180 plus 10 right?

We aren't going back until 2013 but I didn't realize that 180+10 was an option! Thank you for the helpful info.

I'm splitting our November stay (we're there for 10 days) at 3 different resorts. Will I be able to make reservations for our whole trip at the 180 mark of the first resevation? Or will I have to make reservations at the 180 mark for each check in date?

What happens if I book ADRs with my current resort confirmation number, but after a few months a discount comes out and I want to change my hotel reservation?
Does the resort confirmation number stay the same, and therefore there’s no impact on ADRs?
TIA!

That's correct.

YMMV. I am on a split stay in August, with a first resort reservation of 5 nights followed by a second of 10. When I called at the 180 day mark, I was able to book the first 11 nights (using the res number from the first resort reservation). The next day I called again to make a dining reservation for the 12th night and the CM said she could not do it. That the first resort reservation did not extend that far and the second resort reservation was more than 180 days out. I called a second time and another CM made the dining reservation for me.

This happened one more time as I added dining reservations on subsequent days.
