if you have kids this age, what gift card do they like most? thanks so much.

Fast food and other restaurants. Starbucks movies
Gas gift cards
Bowling
Local attractions
Are they in college? Walmart or target for necessities

My 19 year old asked for:

itunes
gas
movie theaters
restaurants like Subway, Taco Bell, Chipotle
Dick's Sporting Goods
Xbox points

If they are in college you could do gift cards for the bookstore. We got DS some of those and he can spend them on supplies, books or spirit wear stuff.

For my 17 year old( and 14 year old too ) cash is king, lol. If they get gift cards I usually end up giving them the cash for them and using the card myself.

My 17 yr old:

Cash
Wawa (gas & food)
Moe's (food)
Pandora
Xbox points

My 15 yr old:
Cash
Xbox points
AMC theater tickets
Best Buy or Target (for video games)

Why not just get one of those prepaid visa/discover gift cards? They can use them almost anywhere, just the same as a credit card. They can get gas, go see a movie, buy dinner, buy clothes, do whatever they want.

The gas card is a great idea! They can buy not only gas, but the snack foods in the almost always attached little convenience store. They would love that!

My 18 year old son would use:

Wawa
Gas card
Chik Fil A
Subway
Steam credits/card (steam is a computer based subscription website place where you can play games)
Amazon

He is not into Itunes or Movie passes
He may/may not use a Gamestop gift card
He would definetely not use cards to stores in the mall

My 15 year old daughter would use:
Wawa
Stores in the mall
Itunes
Ulta/Sephora

My parents give out prepaid cards and we never had anyone incur fees. I think if they are trying to withdraw money via ATM there may be fees though.

The only problem that I have with the prepaid cards is that if you dooun't know your whole balance sometimes they come out of registers as denied. (for example, you buy something for $17 and you think you have enough money on the card but you only have like 15- it gets denied) I just have my kids keep a careful track of what the balance is or just use the whole card up in one large purchase

each card is different, when you buy it - you must read the fine print, some cards do indeed charge for each time a user actually uses the card!

I vote for cash also -

a Hallmark Card with cash and a personal note! Cash cant be swiped clean by a magnetic strip - I hate that cash has gone out of vogue!

I always give cash to kids this age. Then they can spend it where they want. My kids always preferred it too.

I bought my 18-year old a t-shirt from www.threadless.com . They have really cool t-shirt designs that are NOT *gasp* advertisements. My niece is a tom-boy who likes zombies so I got her a cool zombie shirt.
