18 lb turkey feeds ?????

How many folks will an 18 lb turkey feed?
Its been a couple of years since I cooked on Turkey day....

According to the butterball website an 18lb turkey will feed either 8 adults and 8 children or 12 adults. This calculation allows for leftovers.

We normally buy a 20 lb for 6 adults 4 children and there are leftovers for days.

DH bought a 20lb turkey for the THREE of us!

I usually go by 1 1/2 lbs per person for a bone in turkey, figuring that the bone takes up weight and yoiu want leftovers.

Last year my SIL had a 12lb turkey for 17 people and by the time I fixed my plate, there was one slice left I always like to have more and not be in that situation.

Oh dear! My Dh did the same, almost, there are four of us and a 20 lb. bird!

Well, we'll both have lots of leftovers, right??!!!

Last week I cooked a 21lb turkey for 30 people at work. It was our annual Thanksgiving lunch and I'm in charge of the turkey each year. Of course there were other stuff besides the turkey.

Thanks all.....we are only 7 so we will have PLENTY!!
I usually have cooked for about 18 to 20 so I usually got the biggest bird....now I was afraid I would not have enought for our smaller guestlist this year !!
