Hi,
I am planning my dd's 16th birthday party. She expects to invite about 50 friends-boys and girls. We are having it at our house. We don't have a huge space, but our weather in September is usually quite warm, so will we have it insode and outside.
My plan is to borrow some tables (the kind that are oblong and fold in half) from my mom and some of her firiends (I did it for ds's graduation as well) I will rent chairs from a local rental place. We have two "conversation" patio sets; one on our front patio and one in back. Plus, space in our living room and family room.l
I am borrowing a tiki bar (I hope).
My menu is:
chicken skewers done on the grill
a baked rice recipe with almonds and golden raisins
fruit (pineapple, strawberries, watermelon)
I need a vegetarian dish, as many of her friends are vegetarian (by choice or by culture/religion)
We have a pool table and ice hockey table. What else can I have for the kids to do? I was thinking of buying a used ping pong table on Craigslist (I see them on there for maybe $25 alot).
Drinks:
I am making water bottle labels. I was also thinking of having 2 or 3 "signature" drinks, like mocktails. Probably a strawberry slushie type drink (dd loves strawberries) and maybe orange juice and selter with a little grenadine and maraschino cherry.
She hasn't had a party since she was 13, and in that case, I invited everyone in her class at the Catholic school-kids we had known for 7 years. I will only know a few of these kids.
ANy suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Julia
