16th Birthday Advice Needed

Hi! I am taking my son to Disney World for his 16th birthday for a father-son trip. We are staying for 5 nights at AKV. I need some advice from other teens on things he may enjoy. I already know that he does not want to go to one of the main parks but he does want to go to a water park and just hang out by our pool. We also want to rent one of those small powerboats and drive around Bay Lake. So what are some other things he may enjoy.

Activities?
Restaurants?
Any Suggestions Welcomed!

The program may have been discontinued, I'm honestly not sure, but if not I would definitely sign him up for surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon. They occur in the early morning hours before the water park opens, and are a private class with maybe ten participants. It'd be a lot of fun for him. $$

If he's in to Disney, or backstage stuff in general, I've heard some great things about the backstage tours. That's also another option. $$

Illuminations and Fantasmic! are two really cool shows, that even teenagers will often appreciate. You could try catching one or both of those.

Downtown Disney / City Walk Shopping is always an option, and a cool way to spend part of your day.

I'm pretty sure the Animal Kingdom Lodge has free vehicle Safari's during the morning on the property's private savannah, for those who sign up ahead of time. AKV = Animal Kingdom Villas, right? See if the villas offer the same.

He should have a great time regardless. Have fun!

The other poster pretty much said everything. But I think he would enjoy:

- Fireworks/Fantasmic shows
- Downtown Disney
- ESPN club (no reservations allowed so get there early!)

If he likes video games then definitly Disney Quest!

and why not go to the major parks? unless its because he goes often those might be a lot of fun! so many teenagers automatically assume disney world is for little kids but it definitly isnt there is sooo much for everyone to do!

My DS is 17 and I can tell you some of his favorite things to do are:

Bass Fishing Excursion.... he likes the ones in Bay Lake the best.

Disney Quest

Playing golf... as a junior he gets free club rental at the courses.. try the 9 hole Oak Trail

Try a Segway tour in Epcot.. they are before the park opens and you get to tour around the world showcase on the Segway while it is empty... very cool

As far as dining goes... my son requested California Grill for his 16th birthday.. he loved it... he also really likes LeCellier...
