$1660 more for CL at WL????

SO I booked for 9/2020 at rack rate for now of course and hope for a good discount to add later BUT is it truly$1660 to upgrade from a nature room at WL to a standard CL room? We have stayed at PolyCL, GF CL, BC CL several times and I dont remember ever paying that much more for CL! We are non drinkers so we just like the CL foods and privacy but breakfast and snacks is not worth $1660!

A delta of $237+ per night at rack rate. That doesn’t surprise me. The current rack rate for this week is $462 (Nature View) vs. $701 (Standard CL) per night. That’s a delta of $239 per night.

The short answer is yes. The split tends to be ~250 per night for CL so your ~237 is will within the range.

We are non drinkers so we just like the CL foods and privacy but breakfast and snacks is not worth $1660!

I would agree 100% that $1660 would buy lots of other options for you next Sept.. Now there are still a couple of options. They may not be able to fill rooms at the WL next Sept. & it might qualify for a discount (it would still be much higher than a discounted Nature view. The other option for you to consider is that you may be able to add CL access to your Nature view room once you arrive at the resort.

The WL is quite unique in that they have been offering a $99 per night add-on to add CL Access for your length of stay based on availability. When the WL building was split for the CCR DVC about 50% of the CL rooms were eliminated so there is availability.

Note: I would not expect the rate to be $99 per night next year but it should be much less than ~237 per night.

Yes it is only an option at the front desk at check-in based on availability. It is simply a numbers game but since it is not advertised the odds are slightly in your favor so don't post about it on FB, IG, or Twitter...

This is why it makes more sense for us to do CL when we travel as a family instead of just the 2 of us. $250ish spread between 4 or 5 of us is a better use of our $.

Keep your nature room. If you can get the $99 upgrade at check-in, great. It is almost impossible to get $1660 worth of value out of CL. If you don’t get the upgrade, you will still have a better view and a lot of money to treat yourself.

It could definitely be that much more. At the GF if you went from Garden view to SL Club Level for 7 nights you'd be paying $200 more a night for some dates so close to your increase. To the Main Building Club Level it would definitely be more than your total increase.
