That feeling that goes along with unhealthy eating all week at Disney is one of the main reasons that my DH insisted on staying off site for this next trip. He wants to be able to go off-site or cook for the majority of our meals and so a rental car is mandatory for him. Even the kids were sick of the same old chicken/fries at every meal by the end of the week. So we won't be doing the dinning plan again. Looking forward to your last day and final thoughts. This is an awesome trip report. Thanks!

Question... Can you tell me about getting to the Magic Kingdom from Windors Hills for an early (before park opens) ADR at Cyrstal Palace? I am thinking we will have to leave at 7:10AM in order to get into the parking lot, TTC, Monorail and the walk over to Cyrstal Palace by 8:10AM. Is that too early or late? I wonder what time the parking lots open and if there are big lines... I am thinking not because it did not seem like a ton of folk go super early. This is the one thing I wanted to do to compensate for the lack of EHM with our off-site visit.

We've been going to Disney frequently for YEARS and have always stayed onsite. Last year, couldn't get a FL resident rate, so we stayed offsite at Cypress Pointe. We walked in and I looked at my husband and said, "This is awful!!" He looked at me curiously, and I explained, "I'm never going to get to stay onsite again. Why on earth would I spend so much money when we've got this for the price of a value resort???" Our on-site days are over. I can splurge for the parking if it means we get a much nicer place to stay and can be better rested.

Michelle,
You are my hero!!!!! I LOVE your trip report. Your attention to detail is great and very helpful. We are planning a trip in 1/09 and would like to stay off-site so we can do more activities and have a longer trip. Most people are strong believers in staying on-site. It is so nice to hear another point of view. It is also very helpful that you provide so much detail. Keep up the good work and thanks for your insight.

Michelle, wow, what a great report. My family will be there on Sat nov 17th., your report was wonderful. My dds will be 16 and 17 on this trip-So they are alittle older, but I am sure we will have great fun! I am so excited to go-I can bearly tear myself away from computer-cause I keep finding stuff to read like your report!
I am hoping that my dds will like WHR-of course as long as there are boys there-they will love it! Its 1st time for all of us (well, ok I went when I was 7 months pregnant with my younger one for 1 day, in August-not as much fun since I love fast, bumpy, scary rides)
Anyways, loved your trip report- I will try to do the same.
Jamie
Ps-anyone else at WH Nov17-26?

We'll be there from the 17th until the 1st. Also staying at Windsor Hills in one of the villas.

In my next post, which I hope to get to tommorrow, I'll post our final day...."checking out", shopping at DTD, lunch at Planet Hollywood, and final thoughts and On-site/Off-Site comaprisons....got a few more pics too

For those of you going in a few months may I suggest you book a breakfast at the Tusker House in AK. It was the best breakfast we had and the kids loved it. You get up and dance with the characters and the food was awesome. We even went back for a second breakfast since we booked it twice and it was that good. Our second favorite breakfast was at the Polynesian Resort.

As for Windsor Hills, I highy recommend it. We stayed in one of the villas and walked right out to our own pool and hot tub. No more being cramped at the DW resorts. This place had four bedrooms, two with king size beds, one with a queen size and one with two twin size beds. All with a full bath and tv and a huge flat screen tv in the living room. We also had free wireless hook up for our laptop. Washer/dryer, air hockey and pool table right in the attached garage. And most importantly...it was spotless!

If you can share the cost that is the way to go. The house at WH for 2 weeks cost $2100 and that was over Thanksgiving plus the second week. We split the cost in half with my son and DIL so total cost was $550 a week. I don't think we can beat that but I'll let you know as we plan on booking again next November and since we are returning customers we may get an even better price. They wanted $2700 and we said no that's to high, we gave the prices we were quoted elsewhere and they matched that price. Never settle for the base price, there's room for negotiation.

What a great trip report, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Were leaving in 3 days and were staying in a townhouse at Windsor Hills and last year we stayed at BWV so I'm very interested in comparing the staying onsite to offsite. Your report was very helpful and a great read. Thanks again.

Thanks for your trip report - I loved reading it! :) If I'm not mistaken, though, you included the $100 for parking your car at the airport in your offsite tally but not in the onsite tally. Was that for parking the car at your "home" airport? Wouldn't you need that either way? Or did you use a car service to get to the airport when staying onsite (for how much)?

It's been a long time since we've eaten at Planet Hollywood. Your pics and review are great - we may need to try it again. ;)
