We are going in May and I was wondering what foods your child was eating (or throwing on the floor) at 16 months. Right now hes still eating babyfood and mashed potatoes but we have 6 months to go.
His 1st trip to meet the mouse 194 days
My 8th trip but 1st time with a child under 3

BTW he said his 1st word this week POOH !!!!!

Our 15.5 month old eats most regular table foods.

Chicken/Turkey/Hamburger
Pasta
Cubed canned fruit/raw bananas, kiwi, cantalope
Any canned Veggie, Sweet potatos/any cooked veggie, Raw cucumbers, carrots, etc.
Cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese
Whole grain tortillas, bread, cereals, pancakes, crackers, etc. (white stuff is more of a choking hazard since it gums up easier... choose whole grain, its healthier, too!)

Actually, she's been eating most of that stuff since before she really had any teeth (but we had to cut it up smaller since she couldn't bite it). When we took her at 10 months, she pretty much ate off of our plates. Unfortunately she wasn't very good with the raw fruits and veggies (except bananas) at that point and ended up quite "stopped up" IYKWIM. The second trip at 14 mo, we packed canned fruit cups and applesauce and made a grocery stop for cheeses, crackers and bananas. The rest of the time she ate off our plates.

We took my DS at 19 months old. He ate off my plate most of the time, but if I was ordering something I knew he would not eat, (like steak or seafood) he would always eat chicken fingers or grilled cheese or pasta. I hate to order them their own meal at this age because they rarely eat enough to justify the cost. We just made sure that someone at the table was ordering something he liked. We also bought grapes and cheese at the AS food court every morning and brought that with us.

At that age DS ate a lot of the Gerber Graduate type foods. They come in meat sticks, fruit and vegtable cubes, snacks and crackers, pasta type meals , cerals and lots more. They are a little more expensive but easy to carry and serve. I would feed off your plate as much as possible and then suppliment with these type meals.
We also found when DS was little that most sit down places can get you things not even on the menu. For example; a scoop of cottage cheese or a bowl of apple sauce. Just ask nicely and have the little one smile.
You will find plenty to feed you child. Have a great trip.

My son eats more than my husband and I! We take him everywhere, and he has always eaten table food, cut up or mashed according to how many teeth he had. Steak, potatos, vegies. I do take along canned fruit, applesauce and his milk. He's allergic to dairy and soy so we pack the rice milk.
Have fun!

Took DS when he was one. He ate everything I had and then some. He loved it when we ate around the World at World Showcase. Fish and Chips, Tabouli,Creme Brulee, Tacos, Japanese rice noodles, Norweigian cookies, German Chocolate etc. You name he ate it. He was to young to know his responsibility as a kid was to reject anything that wasn't a nugget, fried, or buried in American cheese. His 4 yr old Sister kept trying to teach him "Yuch" but he wouldn't listen. (I did catch her swipe some of his spicy Lentils in Morocco)

I highly suggest giving him some table foods over the next 6 mos. We are taking our now 9mo old in 3mo. He just started eating cheerios, peas, mashed potates and a few other things. He loves table foods. Of course, he is still on #2 baby food and cereals.

If you are concerned about your foods being to big, purchase a grinder and grind away right at the table. It is very small and compact. But, I imagine at 16mo's you won't have issues feeding your baby right from your food plate. They eat about anything!

Don't forget to take some snacks, cheerios, gerber graduate finger foods for those inbetween meal times and you can always ask for crackers from the restaurants.
