is STILL floating!! We returned from our 1st family trip to WDW on Sunday, September 14th. We bought our 3 year old one of the metallic helium balloon on the evening of the 12th at Magic Kingdom on Main St. Sixteen days later, our balloon is still floating. Mickey/Minnie just does not want to quit. It's like a piece of the Magic lives on in our home. I told DH that I feel like we were just there yesterday because that stinking balloon is still floating around.

What a deal though! I hate paying $7 for a balloon, but it's worth it's weight in helium for keeping our Disney spirit going.

That's wonderful. It must be nice to have some of the "magic" last.

Our daughter always want to immediatly free the ballon. It is like watching money grow wings and fly away.

Must be disney magic....

"It is like watching money grow wings and fly away" So true!

Ah ha, the fly away balloon. But, when we bought ours, it came with this weighted Mickey Mouse head that prevents the balloon from flying away. Wonderful idea. No more fly away balloons.

I am so glad you like your balloon. I work for the company that makes all the Disney balloons!

Can't wait to show your posting to everybody at work!

I can't wait to buy DS a Mickey balloon. Mylar balloons are such magic for him anyway but a Mickey balloon will be extra special! :)

Unfortunately we will have to pack his Mickey balloon for the trip back on the plane so we will have to deflate it but it is good to know that if we buy him one our first day that it should last until we have to leave.

My DD wanted one, but I knew that we couldn't bring it back on the plane, so we decided against it. Maybe next time we go, we can buy one on the first day and then deflate it on our last day so that she can have it for the whole trip.

My DD can't wait to buy her Mickey balloon! Her grandmother has been giving her a Disney Dollar each week for the last several weeks and DD is saving them to buy her own balloon! :) Thanks for posting how much they were, for some reason I thought they were $5.00 so I'll have to make sure she now has $7.00 for her purchase.

BTW - Does anyone know if they have other Disney character balloons? I remember seeing Tinkerbelle ones and of course the Mickey's but how about Minnie or any of the princesses? Thanks!

Did you drive to WDW? The flight attendants made my niece release the helium from her balloons on the plane :(

My parents purchased a balloon for my daughter one year, and when we were done with our trip she found another little one to give it to. (Made sure it was a child who didn't have a sibling, and asked the parent first) If we get them this year we will do it again, but this time will have 2 to give away. We are at AKL the first 5 nights, and you can't have them there, so we would have to wait until the last 6 nights at AS Music. Maybe...

Oh no, well I guess there goes my idea of having balloons set up in our room when arrive at AKL.:(

One year we were at MGM Studios during the summer, I think around 8 years ago. The CM came up to us and asked if we wanted a balloon. I asked her how much were they and she said they were free. I was shocked since I don't remember anything special going on that day. Great souvenier and didn't cost anything!!!

Cast members often give out balloons left at attractions to other youngsters in the park. Certain places (like the 3-D movies) don't allow balloons inside and lots of times the parents would forget to come back to the entrance and retrieve them. The CMs there would give out the left behind balloons to kids as they left the park. Just a little more pixie dust.....
