We have a reservation for 6 at Buena Vista Suites for 7 nights. This includes free breakfast, but the rest of our meals will have to be out. I'm thinking now that it would be more frugal to rent a condo with a kitchen to save on eating out. Our rate with tax is $614. I'm guessing about $700 for food (lunch & dinner), since we're not "fancy" eaters. My family is perfectly happy with Golden Corral and Applebee's! Plus, the youngest 2 are 6 & 7...they eat like birds. Anyway...should I start hunting (fast!!) for a condo or stay with the hotel? I figure if we eat at the condo, we would spend around $200 for food.

If so...where?! I like the $614 price and would really like to stay at less than $800 for a rental.

Any ideas?! I'm running out of time!!

It looks like you'll have a mini-fridge and a microwave. How about PB&J sandwiches and chips you can bring to the park for lunch?

This close...I'd stay put. Pizzas one night will be cheap. A family meal deal for pasta can be another really cheap night. Does the suite have a fridge? Will you have a car? When you get there, buy fixinings for subs/sandwiches, buy yogurts, granola bars, cheez-its for snacks. You can do this for under $700 - you won't eat like kings, and you'll be ready for some good home cooking when you get back, but I'd relax and stick with what you've got, which is a great deal!!

Have fun

Do you really want to cook and wash dishes on vacation? I don't. It's a cheaper way to do the parks but I would rather stay home and save more or cut something else than cook and clean on vacation.

Minus the cost of breakfast from your savings because you would not get free breakfast if you move to the condo. Do quick sandwiches and things you can make with just a fridge and microwave and you can still save a lot. I've lived in hotels for 2-3 weeks every time we move, and you would be surprised what you can make with just a microwave if you can get to a store and grab a few things.

I am assuming you will be going to the parks every day? Are you really going to head back to the condo to eat? Why not just eat breakfast at the hotel and make sandwiches to bring to the parks for lunch. That way you only have to pay for one meal out per day and save $$.

At this point I would stay with the hotel if it were me.

I agree! Your savings will be minimal anyway. With small eaters, split some meals and have snacks ready. You don't want to use park time going back and forth for meals either.

We stayed at Buena Vista Suites, they do have a decent size minifridge and microwave and coffee maker. Buy sandwich fixings and things to keep in the fridge and stay put! We enjoyed BVS when we stayed there, I think you're better off there than hunting last minute for a condo.

You're all right...I'm being neurotic. We're doing the vacation really cheap to begin with so I don't know why I'm freaking out! We aren't strapped for the money at all, I think it's just my frugal nature kicking in. I definitely don't want to do dishes or clean on vacation...doesn't that defeat the purpose??

Thanks all...I'll suck it up and stay with BVS!
