What are your opinions on this show on MTV?

As much as I love Secret Life of the American Teenager, I think this show is waaaaay more realistic. Like rather than making it seem like it's easy (which Secret Life tends to do) it shows that harder side of what the girls are going through.

The only teen I was suprised to see pregnant was Farrah, the cheerleader girl. The other ones didn't surprise me as much.

my senior year the most popular cheerleader/dancer dropped out of high school because she got pregnant. those are the ones that don't surprise me at all.

All I can say is I cannot picture myself being pregnant right now, at 16. Not even the labour aspect, even though that gives me the willies. Just the, "you are now responsible for another human being. This person will depend on you until the day you die" thing. I always thought it would be better to be a young mother, as in 20-26. Now that I'm getting closer to those ages I don't know if I would be ready to be a mother.

None of them surprised me. The girl whose brother was in Iraq, seemed like the most mature to me. She kinda had her act together.

ETA: I dont know if I will ever be ready to be a mom! It just seems so scary to me to be bringing up a young child in this day and age. Also, since I have a little sister who just turned 1 on the 3rd of july, she can be my 'fix' for now. Pregnancy doesn't scare me as much as bringing a baby home from the hospital!!!

at least they had their own apartment and were semi-supporting themselves. the others (that i saw) lived with and depended on their parents.

Yeah, they all didn't surprise me. Pretty much all high schoolers are having unprotected sex, it's sad.

there were 2 pregnant girls in my home room during my senior year. (neither one was the cheerleader) and i think three more in the school.

Same could be said for college students....i knew 2 people who dropped out due to their pregnancy.

thats true that this show is much more realistic then secret life.. but its suposed to be. secret life is an actual show.. but 16 and pregnant is a documentary.
and i agree with what everyone is saying.. us teens should be much more careful! lol

I've only seen one episode, but It really shows you the hardships of early pregnancy. I saw the one with Farrah. the labor part got me the most. It was almost painful for me to watch. There is no way I'm getting pregnant anytime soon.

As far as I knew, there were no pregnant girls in my school last year that I saw. But there's a town like 10 minutes away who has at least like 5 girls in each grade alone pregnant.

i like this show because it is more realistic and it shows that unlinke in the secret life it shows how you do have to support yourself and MOST pregnant teens dont have a family to fall back on or they do but they still have to support themselves.

My school has about 6 girls pregnant this year. 4 in my grade, 1 in a grade lower & 1 who just graduated. 2 old friends of mine who now go t different Highschools are pregnant now too. And also I heard there was a middle schooler pregnant too, whether that is true or not I don't know, but I still think it's sad that these many young girls are getting pregnant. It makes me mad, that they think they're mature enough to handle a baby...they have no clue what they're getting themselves into.

Teens need to stop thinking the sex is awesome and something they should be doing. 99% of them are way to immature to be doing that.

God, when I was that age, yeah I was into guys, but I more focused on having fun, being single, and flirting with guys. Not having sex. I can't even imagine being pregnant at 16...I was so immature then...

I can't even imagine being pregnant NOW! I've matured a lot, but I'm still no where near ready to be a mom...

Props to the girls who go through with the pregnancy and don't take the "easy" way out with an abortion though. They have a lot of my respect for sticking it through.

I've been out of HS for just over a year..

During my 4 years there, five girls from my class were pregnant. Within the year that we've been out, five more have gotten pregnant (just the Class of 2008).

One of the girls had 2 children before turning 18 (:scared1::eek: ) but she is working a lot and going to school. So while I don't think she is someone young teens should look up to, she is sort of inspirational for those girls who do get pregnant. She's doing well given her situation.

oh my gosh that show makes me so sad.....just cause two of my really good friends had pregnancy scares this year and i saw the hell that just the scare put them through...
i can't even really imagine myself married let alone with a family and another life to be responsible for, i just can't see that for myself. especially now it's very scary to me

i most definitely do not consider abortion the easy way out. its hard, it hurts, and its emotionally scarring (not to mention its freaking expensive. they can be more than 1000.00) abortion is a very hard choice to make, and i don't think such a big decision should be called the easy way out.

That's what the quotes are for. I know it's a very hard decision, it's not easy. But it's relatively easier then carrying a child for 9 months, being in labor for hours upon hours, giving birth, and then taking care of a child for the rest of your life starting at 16.
