Has anyone any idea if they are doing something special on April 12, 2007 for the 15th, and in case they will have something special, what it will be? And when we will be able to book our stay?

I missed July 17 2005 at Disneyland, I would like to be there on April 12 2007, but not if there isn't anything special planned!

They are decorating the castle and there is a new parade due to start in April. It is a year of celebrations from april 2007 to april 2008. not sure if there is anything planned for the actual day though.

I'm wondering the same Sandra, it's going to be very busy I imagine, but if there is something extra special on - it would be worth being there. :)

Thank you for that link.

It has been more than a month that I have been to a Disney park (can't believe time goes so fast!) and I still haven't booked my next Disney-trip! I don't even have it planned in my head!! I already told DBF that I would like to go to DLP during the Christmas season (yeah, I like to freeze my ears off, lol!), and that I want to/ have to/ will be there on April 12, but then they need something good. Otherwise, I'd better go in the summer, to enjoy the new fireworks (oh, I miss "Remember, dreams come true", the Haunted Mansion part is just SO good!)

Does anyone know the extent of the work that will happen on the castle (and when it might happen)? I remember the Sleeping Beauty castle at DL going under tarps for quite awhile as they put on the tiaras and repainted it for the 50th anniversary. For me, it was something unusual, but for someone who only had one chance to be at Disneyland and *not* see the castle, I think it would be terrible.

I'd hate for that to happen for our trip. And it would probable mean not being able to go inside or see the dragon, and oh, the thought of it just seems too awful!! :crazy2:

I've been reading boards elsewhere and there's rumor that Crush's coaster and the new Cars ride might be open around the beginning of April (although the dlrpmagic site says June 2007). I could be hopeful for soft openings, I guess...anybody in the know??

Well the Castle has strangely not been placed on the official closed attractions schedule, which makes me confused as to how they are going decorate the castle for the 15th with the candles if they have not put it down for a refurbishment, unless they are just going to add the candles and that's it. As far as Crush and cars go they are DEFINATELY opening in June, they may have soft openings, but as far as that goes nothing has been said, but DLRP don't seem to announce anything about soft openings until they do it or invite annual pass holders and share holders to ride.

The dragon in the castle also has just had it's refurbishment so if that closed again within the next 6 months I would be amazed.
Sorry I cannot be anymore help.

 That would be awful if they did that! It will be our first ever Disney trip and I would be horrified if we couldn't see the castle. I don't know if we'll be able to afford to come back for a long time, so it would be too dreadful to contemplate!!!!
How long was DL's castle covered for? :worried:
But as its not on the refurb list we will just hope that a month in advance they wont be doing anything to it!

I really hope that it is not covered up. We are going to Castle Club in March and one of the things me and dd are looking forward to is looking out to the castle while having breakfast.

I completely agree; it would be awful if the castle were obscured by scaffolding and tarps. When they worked on the DL castle, it was totally blocked from view. I'm pretty sure it was like that for a few weeks at least.

Disneyland started its 50th anniversary celebration on May 5, 2005, with the actual 50th birthday on July 17. That's a pretty long time from the announcement to the actual anniversary. But the park ran the promotion for the 50th for 18 months (and it's been wildly successful--the park has just been packed for two years, it seems!) May 5 was, as I recall, a day dedicated to the press event and the park was closed to the public (I remember this from it being mentioned when we got our annual passes). July 17 was open to the public and surprisingly less crowded than expected (at least from what *I* expected!!)--the crowds were worse the day after!

All that said, it took DL about a year to refurb the things that needed work (and there were a lot of them!). All the work was done by May 5, and I think the park absolutely glorious. The only thing not done on May 5 was Space Mtn, which was in the process of being rebuilt completely, but it was ready by July 17. The castle-under-wraps was done by May 5.

Anyway, I would hate to be at DLP and *not* see that pretty DLP castle. We also have no idea when or if we'd ever get back to Paris again.
