1500 vs 2000 and how to request ...

I am trying to determine if we should request a loop or just take our chances.

I was looking at a map and see that 1500 is closer to the Meadows area --- can you walk to the trading post/pool from there? And I know the sites are smaller, but they are still OK for a big tent (plus screen house), right?

On the other hand, did I read somewhere that 2000 is more secluded(?) - and it looked on the map like there were 3 comfort stations for 2000 and only one for 1500. I would like to not have to wait or walk far for the CS because we have three kiddos.

How long would it take to take the bus from 2000 to the pool?

And if we were to request how do you do that, anyway? I made my ressie online and it did give me the chance to click "near transportation", "near comfort station" and "tent", but nothing else. Do you fax a request in? I think I read that somewhere ...

We won't be renting a golf cart so the buses are definitely a consideration for us.

Thanks for any help with my many questions:goodvibes

1500 has 21 sites, 2000 has 69 so the CS are about the same distance. Yes you can walk to the pool and TP from 1500. Once a bus comes it's a short ride from 2000 to the pool. IMO without a GC i'd rather be in 1500. You can fax or call WDW reservations to put in a loop request.

Okay...here is a "hidden Mickey" for walking to the Meadows pool from loop 2000. Next door to loop 2000 is the group camping area known as Creekside Meadow and in the back of the group area is a bridge and short sidewalk that leads to the back of loop 900. Loop 900 is directly across the road from the Meadows trading post. There is no need to take the bus to the pool while staying in loop 2000 (unless you want to). Incidentally, the walking time is 5 to 10 minutes (depending upon how fast you walk and how long you have to wait for traffic to cross the road).

Wow, thanks you two - I love this board - such fantastic and detailed advice :)

So does anyone have a particular tent site that they really, really liked? Maybe I'll try requesting that way :goodvibes

We were in 1500 two weeks ago for the first time. We really liked how easy it was to walk to the pool and campfire activities. We were given 1514 which was a really sunny site without a lot of shade. Having seen some of the sites, I thought 1518 looked nice and was a bit more shaded. 1515 was also nice. We had a 14x16 tent and a 10x10 screen house and had plenty of room. I would definitely stay in 1500 again. Hope this helps!! :)

These are the responses I've read a few times, but I guess my question is (I'm heading down in a few weeks):

It looks like 1500 is closer to the pool, and has more "growth" between the sites, but the 2000 sites are a little larger with more space between them, but not the shrubs/growth.

Fair assumption?

The last time I was in loop 2000 was Dec '08 and FW had just removed almost all the undergrowth (those pesky vines), so the sites were bare (except for trees). As I understood at the time the FW landscaping crews were to plant new bushes and undergrowth between sites...which I assume they did. Has anyone been in loop 2000 recently to confirm or deny that the landscaping was done?

I've got a photo showing the aftermath of the vine removal, but I've got to upload and then post the photo (no time until tonight or tomorrow).
