Hello. We are fast apprpoaching our 25th Wedding anniversary and are considering a "family" trip. My husband suggested a Disney Cruise because Disney makes everything special, and we've never been disappointed. That being said, I have an 11 year old and 15 year old son. We have never cruised before. Will the 15 year old be comfortable? Will he have fun? Will Disney be "TOO CUTE" for him?? Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

thanks:earseek:

We took our first DCL when my daughter was 15 and I was concerned about this also. She absolutely LOVED the cruise and continues to sail with us even this year (her college spring break is the same as ours :) ) even though she's 19!! I guess it all depends on your 15 yo but she did some of the club stuff and she was with us some of the time too. She likes to relax AND she likes to have fun. She isn't one that has to be occupied ALL the time -- so hopefully that will help. Good luck with your decision.

We just came back from the 2/14 Magic with our 14 DS. He had a blast! The Teen Navigator has a list of activities planned. He loved the Stack (teen club) and the Wild Side excursion on Castaway Cay.

Plenty to do.

Look over the Teen Navigators on Barb's website:

http://www.castawayclub.com

Just click on Navigators, then on the length of cruise you plan to attend, and then click on the Teen link.

Remember there movies, shows, family activities, pools, and shows, so he doesn't have to be with the teens all the time. It is just nice being on the ship! Then when you dock, you can go off on excursions and see the sights!

I would think anyone would have fun on the Disney Cruise, I can't imagine not having a good time at any age!

When we were there the first time, we had lunch with two college girls sailing by themselves. I asked them why they came on a Disney Cruise. They said they love the tropics and being on a cruise ship, but they didn't like the gambling and party atmosphere on many of the other cruise lines. So these two 21 year old girls were have a great time on the Disney Cruise by themselves!

One thing I'm sure your son will enjoy is the food! My two DS's are a bit younger (8 and 11) but they enjoyed the never-ending pizza, cheeseburgers and french fries. One day I think my younger DS had pizza three times! I can't speak for the teen activities because my kids were still in the lab, but I did see quite a few teens that looked like they were having a blast!

When we cruised the summer before last, I think my 15-year-old nephew had the best time of anyone in our extended family, which included 13 people ranging in age from 9 to 77! He enjoyed the teen group activities much more than the two 13-year-olds in our party, and found lots of other kids his age to hang out with. We have a great photo of him on the beach at Castaway Cay with what we joking called his "harem." Hope your son has a wonderful cruise!

We've cruised 3 times - kids were 8/10, 10/12 & 13/15. This last trip I think the only time we saw the 15 YO DS was for dinner or when he wanted to track us down for permission to stay out even later. Ok, there were some excursions we did as a family.

He had emailed with several other teens ahead of time and they met up right in the terminal before boarding.

He had a blast!

I agree with everyone - go, he will have a great time. I have 3 DS's - 14, 20 and 22, they all enjoy it!

:bounce: Wow! I also have an 18 yo ds who is refusing to have anything to do with it, but if your boys enjoy it, maybe..... The whole reason we're considering this (instead of Hawaii by ourselves) is because they grow up so fast and then BAM! they're gone and on their own.

thanks everyone:earsgirl:

The 18 yo ds can hang out at the adult pool/hot tub and go to all of the nightclubs - and stay after the younger group needs to leave. The are VERY careful about serving alcohol to anyone that looks like they may be underage - the servers will request to see the KTTW card. No, it never happens to me but I watched them with my oldest.

There are no specific activities for the 18-20 age group (Disney, are you listening???) but I think they can still have a great time.
