Going April 17-19 which are "value" days. Would it be worth it to get Maxpass or are the crowds light enough so it wouldn't really be necessary?

I think MaxPass makes your trip more convenient regardless of the level of the crowds especially if you are parkhopping because you can get fastpasses for attractions in other parks or at other ends of the same park (so you don't have to walk or send a runner when you want to get a new fastpass). Plus you can get new fastpasses every 90 minutes rather than every 2 hours. But when it's very crowded I think MaxPass is invaluable. It's really hard to say if crowds will be light even though it's "value" ticket days. You really just never know. You could just get MaxPass the first day and see how you like it, then buy it daily for subsequent days if you enjoyed using it.

That word "worth" is so hard to quantify. Three of the 5 days we were there earlier this month were value days and only one of them had what I would call "low crowds" and that was really just in DCA not DL. It's still busy no matter when you go because often on value days they do not have both sides of a ride open as they are staffed for lower crowds so the lines can stay just as long as on a higher crowd day with full staff in place. It's $10 per person per day - so in the end we just decided we were going to do it as we only go every 2 years and never gave it any thought after that. We really enjoyed using it - especially when we'd take a break back at the hotel and could continue to book fast passes for the evening when we returned. It made the entire experience so much more pleasant - and we got a LOT more done with the MP than had we just used traditional fast passes. For example - when your fastpass window opens for Space, while you are in the line for Space you can book your next fastpass. I know that technically you can wait for the window to open, pull another fast pass and then go ride Space as you have that hour window but this was just so much more convenient - we did not lose 1 minutes of opportunity it seemed. Now early in the day, sometimes it's pointless to have fast passes. Our Friday morning we had fast passes where ride lines were like 5 or 10 minutes, but later on in the afternoon when ride lines were 45 minutes plus for most of the big ticket rides, it was so great to have frequent fast passes.

it was so great to have frequent fast passes.

First time going to DL Aug 12-17th. I can breeze through WDW been going there for years, but this trip to DL is a bit confusing. I get ADR's are 60 days out, right? What about FP's when can I start booking those? And yes, I plan on getting Maxpass. If you can provide any help that would be awesome!

You can only book fast passes once you are in the park, not ahead of time, so you pick as you go throughout the day. And yes dining is 60 days out, but they ar not that hard to get closer to your dates.

Our first visit was in Sept and we used Max Pass. Thought it was great. And it includes Photopass. We had Canadian tickets so had to buy MaxPass each day once we entered the park. If you have regular tickets I think you can buy the option for all days?
It says $10 introductory offer. I worry what it will go up to o_O and may not buy if it’s too pricey. Tickets are expensive enough. But for $10/day will buy it.

YES! I totally would. We were there around then this past year (2017) and it felt really busy, even though the days weren't supposedly that busy via crowd predictors. Maxpass wasn't rolled out yet, but we realllly wish it had been.

That said, I don't think we would have needed it for California Adventure. The big ticket attraction in Carsland we were able to do a paper fastpass on and otherwise waits were reasonable over there. Maybe prioritize it for Disneyland days?

Worth it to me - at least for one member of our party - just for photopass. There aren't nearly as many photographers as at WDW (even a lot of the character meet and greets don't have photogs!), but you can still get enough good pictures to make it worthwhile!

It's nice to be able to sit down at lunch and choose where we want to grab the next fasspass and do it from the restaurant! (Tortilla Joe's in DTD). Once you have entered the parks for the day, you can get passes, even if you aren't in the park.

I would recommend MaxPass as well. We were there for four days. The first day I didn't add it to our tickets which was the plan. I added it Day 2 and 3. Day 4 I wasn't going to add it but did because it was so convenient.

This is a good tip. We have 6 in our family and planning 4 park days. So 240 is a pretty big chunk of change.
