My friend works for a transport company who alot of the time will take on smaller deliveries for the company who supplies preprepped food for Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut. Yesterday she called me to go on the ride with her. Great Idea Dorian isn't home with me on Sats anymore and I was feeling real down and out in my Apt all alone. (in case you didn't know DH moved out 2 weeks ago) So we are off at 11am. We start out in Saugerties NY and follow the highway up to Albany and then Guilderland. We pick up stuff for 4 resturants. 3 taco bell stops and one KFC. We take the 20 min drive to Troy NY Taco Bell and drop 17 boxes off to them. Now we are in for the long haul. Next stop.. Pittsfield Mass. We drop 9 boxes to Mass and drive down to Hartford CT dropping 2 boxes of cups to them. We then head for Providence RI because it is faster to Fall River Mass that direction. Many hours later we finally reach Fall River and drop 3 boxes of Cole Slaw prep to a KFC..I am dumbfounded that we drove 265 miles to drop off 3 small boxes of cole slaw prep to KFC at 7pm....So now we are craving dinner and find a ponderosa and settle in to eat..hmmm bad idea we eat til we are stuffed and get back in the car to head home. I forget tell me again what feeling comes over you when you have a full belly??? oh yeah thats right SLEEP...We are so tired and we talk and laugh all the way back to NY and make a pit stop at my moms around midnight which is 2 hours south of home. We talk for a minute to her and my brother and back on the road with a few gifts for Dorian from Grandma and we finally at 2am get back to Saugerties NY where we started. Now don't ask me why it is I am up at 8:25am telling you about this I am so tired but I guess since Dorian will be home today soon and I missed him so much although I had a great time on the ride. Oh and BTW my friend does this for a living. I don't know about it but it was an adventure.
You needed a day with a friend and a change of scenery. I can't imagine spending 14 hours to do such a "simple" run, either, but I guess they're needed.
