I admit, I am an idiot.... I meant to write it down but didn't.
I was at WDW last month and saw a sign outside a hotel that said $149 per week. and something like full kitchens etc.
The hotel was on 192 east, just as you get onto 192 East from WDW, on the right hand side as you are heading toward Celebration etc... It was a permanent sign, not one of those electric changing signs.
I am thinking about going down to Orlando with a friend who has no money, but has a car and wants to driveand pay for gas. I also am presently "financially short" but can come up with a small amount of cash. Since I have an AP that won't be a problem, and since I always have money put aside for food each week I can just use that for food in Orlando. A hotel is the only thing I would have to shell out cash for.
I am not picky when it comes to a hotel room, it has to be free of bugs and have a bed. I usually pack my own sheets that I picked up cheap at IKEA because I hate those flat sheets and would prefer to use my own anyhow. I leave the privacy sign on my room door at all times so they won't come in and clean the room. I don't need daily service since I don't use their soaps and shampoos. I also use the same towel here at home for about 3 showers so I don't ask for clean towels every day. I catch the maid in the hall and exchange towels then.
does anyone know the name of the hotel I am asking about? I think there was one on West 192 also. The sign I remember seeing on the west side was right in front of the Angel's restaraunt. It was one of those electric signs that had fireworks going off and the sign said $149 a night.
Hopefully someone who is in the area can find these hotels for me.

If you do not hear from anyone about the hotel, you could call information and get the number of the restaurant and call them and ask. Good luck, I hope you get to go to Disney and have lots of fun.

You could also try Priceline for a hotel. Check out biddingfortravel.com first for the list of hotels that usually pop up.

Good luck to you.

Thanks everyone. I did a search and did find that it was Home Suites Home that I was thinking about. the one by Angel's used to be Niki Bird Holiday Inn but was bought out by HSH. the other one is not far but did get better reviews.
I checked the reviews from the Niki Bird one and UGHHH!! Some of them were nasty. I read about filthy pools, dirty rooms, fights in hallways, and alot of dayworkers staying there. I can't imagine a place would stay in business if it was that bad.
I didn't find any great reviews for the other HSH, but a few that said it was an ok place to stay.
I checked Master's inn and for the time I want to go to Orlando it would cost me $51 per night avg. I could find an AP price at Pop for around that price.
I do like the $149 per night. Since I would be going with a man I won't have to worry about much, but you always have to worry about certain crime no matter where you stay and what you pay.
My main concern is low cost and no bugs. Of course the element that is staying there is a concern but again, you can run into a problem with other people anywhere you stay and you always have to watch around you for your own safety sake.
I will keep looking because I have quite a while before I need to book. I am sure someone on these boards will get a great rate somewhere that I might be able to get in on too.

it is not a hotel.

so no maid service, no trash service, they didn't even provide towels or toliet paper. WHen it replaced the Holiday Inn - you should have seem the complaints.

if you want a cheap place then you might consider this one.

Yep, that's the place you're thinking of. We've seen it too, and I also remember the horrible things people went through when it switched over from Holiday Inn and they'd previously won it through Priceline. I think I'd stay away from it...:scared1:

this is so sad. Stayed here when it was Niki Bird Holiday Inn and it was a very 3 star hotel. I think it was called Holiday Inn West in those days and it was really, really nice. (the 90's)

with the home suite home - remember the $300 deposit - that will not be returned unless you write them 24 hours before you leave. this to me sounds like a scam to kept your $300.

I would definitely be taking pictures before and after.

We stayed at HoJo's Enchantedland Hotel in Kissimmee for about $150 for a week (I think the rates were $35/day). It was so-so----just like you are hoping for---no bugs and a bed.... They ahd a breakfast area and tiny "store" and a poolside lounge----pool was not heated---hd a jacuzzi---I feared catching Legionnaires Disease and would not stick much more than my toes in it. I think many Kissimmee hotels run about that low per night---I wonder which one out of all of those hotel is the least dumpy for the best price though? Hmmmm.:surfweb:

We got Howard Johnson MainGate East for $29/night through Hotwire. It is pretty basic, but no bugs and a decent pool/spa area. It is very close to Disney property- it's right behind the IHOP on 192.

Check out SkyAuction's "Home and Away" Auctions. You should be able to get a really nice condo for about $250 a week. Have used them several times and they have always been great.

Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista sometimes has some good rates. They've gotten mixed reviews, but most say it's clean and functional.

If you're willing to consider ebay, there are some awesome deals on there for condos (2 or 3 BR with 2 or 3 BA, full kitchen, and washer/dryer).

Just make sure they're protected by Paypal, SquareTrade verified, have great feedback, and you can use a credit card (for additional protection).
