13yo who hates rides

It's to do with autism and sensory processing...
Makes sense! I just asked because it took me awhile to realize the reason I didn't like some things was motion sickness, since it was just bad enough to make me feel gross but not really sick. Once I started using medicine, I realized that even the calmer rides were bothering me. :)

I believe I've seen people who put together scavenger hunts of different things around parks to find. I know someone mentioned pressed pennies, I still have the ones I collected from my first trip when I was 12 or so- so that one can be a fun souvenir too!

There is also a DuckTales scavenger hunt that the kids can do on the Play Disney app if you end up in EPCOT.

Thank you for your understanding. I'm so glad the medicines help! He doesn't like slides at the park or anything. Probably because he's not in control of the movement.

Scavenger hunts are such a great idea. And the pennies. We need to ensure we have some cash.

Thank you xx

Speaking of scavenger hunts, my cousin was in the park the same day as my family. We would snap a picture and send it to each other. Then the rest of the day, we both had to find that spot and send the same picture. It wasn't really an organized thing and we weren't actively searching it out. But, it was actually a lot of fun when we would come across their spot. We go a lot and he is local with an AP, so the clues were hard.
But, I thought I'd throw that out to see if it inspired any ideas.
We did the pennies one year. That was fun. I also started to notice a few machines with medallions to purchase.

I do believe you have to use official Disney pins and I’m pretty sure on the WDW website there are etiquette guidelines. If you don’t want to spend money on a bunch of pins, I like the idea of creating a scavenger hunt of just finding certain pins, characters, colors, etc. at different locations. They sell pins everywhere, so there would be plenty of places he could look. We’ve acquired pins over several trips because the cost does add up.

Oh I like the photo idea. That's fun. We could enjoy sending random pics for the others to find!

Thank you

That could be dad's morning job - to get your kids excited to eventually enter the park.

One of those "where in the world is dad" games...if you find the right spot, you get to choose X...

Thank you

I really was fun finding them...even for a couple of 40 year olds.

Another idea: There is a book out there that has things to look for at each attraction.
Some of it walks you through the queue and ride. It will ask questions like, "who's portrait in on the wall when you enter the queue?"
Stuff like that.

I like it. And when you find it, you get a pressed penny or a pin to trade. Or something like that to merge a few of the ideas presented here.
