I'm planning a surprise mother-daughter trip for my DD's 13th bday in February. Anyone have any thoughts on a great place for a brand new teenager to celebrate her birthday :cake: (obviously, we are beyond princesses these days!)? I've been thinking of doing Le Cellier, b/c we'll be in Epcot that day, but I'm open to other ideas, whether it's a resort restaurant or another park restaurant. She is a fairly picky eater, so my main restrictions are that we can't go anywhere too "exotic" and I want to go somewhere where they will make a nice fuss over her without embarrassing her TOO much! ;)

Coral Reef is good food, cool looking and you can arrange for the divers to hold up a sign for her wishing her a happy birthday. It's nice. Have a nice trip.:thumbsup2

Well that's a good idea,I just read on here that they may not have the divers in 2009 how true this is, I am not for sure, just wanted to put that out there just in case you could have a back up plan, Another place you may want to try is Teppan Edo,Kona Cafe, I have read some pretty good reviews, also maybe Marrakesh, or Tutto Italia Now I have not been to any of these places but have read and seen so many pics, and teenagers are all about atmosphere, different atmosphers or should we say cool atmospheres and Coral Reef,Teppan Edo, Marrakesh, and Kona seem to be cool,But if I had to take my teenager neice it would be Teppan Edo 1st, Japenese food can be very universal to the taste buds, steak and rice, shrimp, chicken white rice, veggies may be the only problem,if sauces are the problem it can be cooked the way you like,or you can choose to use your choice of sauces,2nd Coral Reef, You have many great places to choose from, also the new T-Rex place I have seen some pics of this place in another state and this place is cool for everybody I mean really cool, she will want some place that she can text her BF about and talk on the phone about " OMG you should have seen this place it was way cool, I mean they had this and they had that, you had to have been there" Let us know what you choose and how it turns out!!:)

I have been to Teppan Edo AWESOME also been to Tutto & Kona. All are good.

Well, it's not in Epcot, but the first thing that came to mind was Planet Hollywood over at DTD. Not very Disney-ish, but kinda cool.

We were in WDW last year on my DD's 13th b-day & she requested Akersus for dinner...not because of the princesses, but because of the PRINCE.

This year, on her 14th b-day, she requested 1900 PF because of the prince there. She loves getting her picture taken with them & the princes always make a fuss over her b-day.

You are SO right about the texting! :rotfl:

I had been debating about Coral Reef, and if there is no diver (I have read the same thing about '09), that will make that decision easy. Looking at menus for Teppan Edo or Marrakesh, I don't think she would be pleased due to the "weird" things on the menu - although the rice at Teppan Edo would probably make her quite happy! I've read good things about Tutto Italia, so I am putting that one into the running too.

Yes, it's cool, and she definitely loves the food there. She's been to several of them before though, so I think I want to try something different. Thanks though!:thumbsup2

Hmmmm.... That's interesting. I may have to find a way to see how she would feel about a princess meal if it also involves a PRINCE! I've heard they do nice bday celebrations at those restaurants too. Of course, it may depend on the day - one day she would probably be way too cool to eat with princesses, but the next day, she may think it is quite fun! I can never predict these days! :)

(Sorry for all the separate replies - I haven't been able to figure out how to do multiple quotes in one reply!)

Kona is another good option! How am I going to decide!:confused3

I think I am going to have to find a way to ask her some questions without making her suspicious.

I am as plain eater as you get and when I go to Teppan Edo I get steak & shrimp and it's good.

How about California Grill? Way cool place and even better to watch the fireworks up there!

Looks like a neat place, but DD and I will be on the DDP. My DS7 would absolutely LOVE those dinosaurs though, so we'll have to check it out sometime when he is with us!
