What's a girl to do? I have been a vegetarian for 6 weeks now but I'm going to Disney in August during free dining. I don't know what restaurants we're going to, but I know most of them consist of seafood and meat. I REALLY don't want to ruin my family's trip so...what's a girl to do??!! :confused3

Check out allears.net and click on dining.. Then on the left you'll see choices running down the length of the page and vegetarian is there..Hope that helps

I found lots of stuff to eat while I was there in February. And from what I hear the chefs are all very accommodating. I personally like the buffets, because my daughters and I don't eat meat but my husband and mom do. That way we had more choices that we could all pick from!
Check out the hummus/broccoli slaw sandwich at the Harbor House in MK, it was really yummy!
The veggie burger at the American Pavilian CS restaurant was dry, but edible with lots of pickles! :)
The pasta dish at Cinderella's Royal Table was delicious! Way better then my DH and mom said their prime rib was.
Our next trip we're planning on hitting:
Crystal Palace (looks like there's lots of good choices from checking out the menu on wdwinfo.com and allears.net)
Tomorrowland Noodle Station (love the sound of the tofu/noodle bowl)
Princess Storybook lunch or dinner, there's veggie choices
Sci-Fi in Hollywood Studios, there's some kind of tofu dish that looks interesting.

The PP was right, check out the menus and don't worry, there's lots to eat! There's always side dishes if you have to! Take it from me, I haven't eaten meat in almost 17 years, it's definitely doable!

Hi fellow veggie! These were my top faves:

50s Prime Time Cafe- Stuffed Pepper
California Grill- Vegetarian Unplugged(not on the menu, just ask)
BOMA- Great buffet for veggies

Check out the menus on allears. WDW is very veg friendly!

All the restaurants will accommodate you, don't worry! Me and my 12 yr old cousin are both vegetarians (and I'm VERY picky!!!) and we both were able to eat at every restaurant with our family without a problem.

I am not a vegetarian but I do eat pretty healthy which involves a lot of fruits and vegetables.

I have 3 suggestions:

The first one is Boma at the AKL. This is my favorite restaurant at WDW and you will have plenty to choose from. There are a couple of different couscous dishes along with many vegetable based dishes and soups. They also have humus and sesame crackers.

Each time I have been there the two main meals were a Salmon and Prime rib dish. Now I know some vegetarians are more strict than others and I don't know if you consider fish meat (I'm sure every scientist would but the catholic church says you can eat fish when you can't eat meat so who knows?!) but even if you do I think you will find enough to eat. And if you are a coffee drinker definitely get the press pot!

Second is Tusker House in AK. They have much the same style food as Boma but inside the park and if you eat there for lunch it will be cheaper.

Lastly is Restaurant Marrakesh because of their vegetable couscous.

That is my 2 cents worth.

Well, the couscous itself is cooked with beef broth. They never say that it is vegetarian, just that it is vegetables with couscous.

Being vegetarian is very common. Almost all restaurants will have a vegetarian entree on their menu. If you don't like what the restaurant has, talk to your waiter and generally they will work to pull together something. Occationally you'll eat more salad than you want. As long as you aren't vegan or have complications (like celiac) to go along with vegetarian, you'll do fine (even if you are vegan or have complications, you won't starve).

(Couscous is cooked - generally - with water or chicken stock. Vegetarian couscous is cooked in water or vegetable stock. Ask at Marrakesh, but I think their couscous is cooked in water.)

Definatly go to Boma, they have lots of good, (and interesting,) salads.

My husband and I are also veggies, and have found it very eay to eat at Disney. Almost all the restaurants will accomodate your needs. Just call ahead of time and let them know! Happy eating!!

We did free dining last fall and my oldest has been a vegetarian for a long time. She was 16 that trip. EVERY menu has a least one vegetarian selection on it. At places where you do not see a vegetarian menu choice just ask. The only place this happened to us was at Liberty Tree where everyone else ate the meat and veggies they give you and she was made a special meal.
Don't worry, you will be fine as long as you like veggies and pasta. We have found that a lot of teens who call themselves "vegetarians" don't really like vegetables and fruits at all. They live on french fries and other junk. My daughter calls them "junkatarians!"
Being a vegetarian is very limiting in my opinion. Get used to eating the same basic things over and over. There is just not as much variety. I couldn't stand it myself. And, it won't really make you healthier or thinner if you eat junk.

Do you mean at WDW or in general? Personally, I disagree either way. I think WDW is great for vegetarians, and there is a good amount of variety there, much more so than a few years ago. On our last trip to WDW, we went to St. Augustine afterwards and I ate a lot of pasta there. Kinda disappointing, especially after my nice meals in WDW. With a little more planning, I might have had better meals. But I was fine.

In general, I was actually in a big rut as a meat-eater and becoming vegetarian pulled me out of that. I eat all sorts of things now, whereas before I was eating chicken, potatoes and a veggie most dinners.

OP, I would find out what restaurants you're going to go to and look at their menus, so you have a plan of attack. There are a few restaurants that are limited/lacking in vegetarian entrees. Also, if you have foods you can't stand you might as well know up front what the TS restaurants have on the menu. There is a separate vegetarian menu at San Angel Inn, BTW.

I completely agree. You definitely have lots of options as a vegetarian. Even as a picky eater I find lots of things to eat. I don't like a whole lot of vegetables, but I certainly don't live on "junk" and wouldn't consider myself a "junkatarian" by any means. I also didn't give up meat to get thin.
