If you got the highest gb worth of data on an iPad, what do you use that many gb for?

I am debating.

Right now I have a 32gb iPad 2 that I have given my son. 32gb was ok, but really not quite enough. I had to take things off to add things fairly often, but part of that was because of my iCloud settings that I needed to adjust.

Thinking of getting the 64gb. The 128gb is $80 more. Do I need it? Do I need to keep everything on my iPad and never delete?

I have a 64GB iPad. I keep movies and music on it. I also have the Kindle app and a small number of books on it. And then there are my digital magazine subscriptions that also take up some space.

Yes, most of that stuff can be stored in a cloud somewhere but if I don't have access to wi-fi (like when I'm flying or traveling by car), then it's nice to be able to pull out the iPad and still have something to entertain myself beside game apps.

How much have you actually filled up?

Part of me says, "It is only $80 more" and the other part of me says, "You are already up to $700, do you need to add another $80?"

My husband's iPad is always full because of game apps, primarily.

We operate under the "When, in all of our years of owning computers and other electronic devices, said 'I really wish I had LESS storage space on this thing.''

Usually, it's the opposite even when we bought the max we could, so we continue to buy the maximum we can (without being outrageously priced). Same thing for things like processor speed and RAM for computers.

Now, with our iPad's we've determined we don't need the cellular versions. Wi-fi only is fine.

I have a 128gb 4G iPad Air. The actual usable space is 115 GB. I have many apps, games, videos and music on mine and still have about 62 go free. I use mine a lot for travel, so love having space for lots of videos. It's great not having to constantly delete to add new things.

Ugh now you are making me rethink my decision to get a 32gb iPad air :) maybe I need 64!

Is it easy to move things like movies from the device to cloud or the other way around if necessary?

I hava a 1TB wifi harddisk that can stream movies to 3 devices simultaneously. Great for when we travel and the kids can each watch their own programs.

No internetcomnection nessesary for streaming

Therefore we only have 16G on our ipads and iphones.

I am going to look into this type of set up :)

I have 32GB on my iPad 2. I have a 4TB external hard drive I store everything on via iTunes on my laptop. I only keep what I need daily on my iPad. If I am going on a trip I pull off photos to open space and add movies and extra games for example. If I forget something I wanted as far as a app etc I can always grab it via the iTunes store once I have wifi again. Not a big deal. That HD was cheaper then more storage on the iPad. And honestly I have never wished I had more space with this set up.

new ipad owner here - OP I hope you don't mind if I ask a question since you've got a group of knowledgeable I-pad people here

I downloaded MDE and can see the parks, times, wait times etc but even after signing into it I can't see our park plans / reservation type information like I can on our computer. We're going to make FP+ arrangements around mid-March - I'll do that on the computer but I'd like to be able to access it on the I-pad - am I doing something wrong.....? Thanks!

But it only works with wifi, correct?

The wifi harddisk makes it's own wifinetwork with your (i)devices. So you can access the data on the harddrive. You do not need to be in a spot with wifi connection to internet.

Only if you want internet access, then yes, you need a wifi internetconnection

I'm intrigued!

How do you get movies/videos on the hard drive? This sounds like a great idea for my kids when we travel.

Is it something like this?

So, you put all your movies, photos, whatever on here and without internet access, you can still stream them to multiple devices?

There is no actual service (internet) needed?

That would work, as well. It's smaller than a harddrive and there are no moving parts, so easy to travel with.

I just connect the harddrive to a pc (or laptop) and transfer all files (movies, photo's ) that i want. You can synch it with Itunes library if you wish.
Kingston has a Wi-Drive, or Seagate Wireless plus are examples of wifi harddiscs.

That sounds awesome! I'm looking at them on amazon, do you mind sharing what kind you have?

I got the 128 for my son. He is an adult with special needs. We have a language program on it. Game apps.

The biggest thing is music, and LOTS of movies. He breaks all DVDs, he is autistic and it is beyond frustrating. Using the digital movies has been fantastic . He deletes them, but I can re-download them easily.

I got a voyager corsair air 1 terabyte external drive it can stream by app without external wifi even in the car. Movies have to be loaded a certain way but it isn't difficult . Check out the corsair site for info ( bought from Amazon)
I can stream to 5 apple/androids at 1 time, backup computers keep photos...
Keeps iPad etc free for other things
