Not a bad idea! As long as the weather remains stable prior to my departure (which at this point is looking like possibly Nov. 3rd) I plan on taking 88 down to PA - 81 to VA where it hooks into 64. 64 to the Richmond area and then on to I-95 to the Georgia/Florida line.. At that point I may cut over and go down the coast of Florida as far as New Smyrna Beach and then head west to Lady Lake..

Ok so we now need a new thread "who wants to be on my emergency call list- Driving NY-FL by way of 88/81"-and I would post it here on the community board , since I think more people know you here.

Been thinking while I was out taking care of business today and I have a friend in PA - a friend in VA - son-in-law's aunts in NC - and a friends adult son & his wife in Georgia.. Guess the only place I better not have an emergency is South Carolina..

C.Ann - did you book your flights as a round trip or two one ways? It is definitely easier to change if they are one way flights but you can still call and talk to someone. Most likely, if it's a round trip, you'll have to cancel that and then rebook just a one way.

I always book my SWA flights as one ways. That way if one leg of my trip has a Ding or Sale, I can rebook just that part of my itinerary. Of course, I learned my lesson the hard way when I couldn't take advantage of a really cheap sale one time.

that I have been following all of your threads for a couple of years at least..and with all you have been through..and the way you have conducted yourself, and picked yourself up and become a new woman along the way, and I just want to tell you that I admire you tremendously. A lot of people could take lessons from you on how you handled everything, and I think that you have come through even stronger than you ever were!!..you go girl!
And now here you are, planning the road trip to end all road trips..or so it sounds..and I just want to wish you a safe journey. I hope that you 'take time to smell the flowers' on the way down to FL, and that you enjoy each and every minute of your trip!..safe and happy driving, can't wait to hear all the stories that you will have to tell after this one!

That's such a sweet thing to say, but really - all I'm doing is what I have always done in times of challenge - putting one foot in front of the other.. No "magic formula" - just keep on going.. That's not to say that I never get down - or frustrated - or angry - or lonely - or confused - or afraid - or sad - but when those things happen I try to look at what my alternatives are..
