We've always wanted to eat in the castle but our son will be 12 on our next trip. He doesn't mind character meals and he is a real flirt with the girls. How uncomfortable would he be at a dinner at CRT?

Also, he's a pretty picky eater. Doesn't like sauces or gravies. Just likes pretty basic fare. Will he find anything he likes to eat there?

By the way, we'll be on the dining plan and I'm wondering if dinner is worth two table service credits.

CRT has always been a favorite of my son and my entire family. We always go for breakfast. My son is 15 and I don't think he's ever been uncomfortable. There are families of all sizes and couples too.

FYI: There are characters (princesses & I think Prince Charming sometimes) at breakfast and lunch, but not at dinner. At dinner, there's some short of small show with the Fairy Godmother and 2 mice from Cinderella, but it's not a "character" meal.

We've always gone there for breakfast, and are trying out lunch next time. It sounds like he'll be fine, though. While the food is not "fine dining" we feel like it's fun to be in the castle!

Thanks for your opinions. I realize that the dinner is not a "character meal" per se but how's the food at dinner?

We ate dinner at CRT last year with 3 boys, ages 11,7 and 5 at the time. We had our meal during Wishes which was very nice. I don't regret using the 2TS meal credits because the experience alone of eating in the castle while the fireworks were going off was magical. My paretns were with me as well and they still talk about it. However, I don't think the food was anything to get excited about...it was not our favorite meal...but the atmosphere was very nice.

I am 35 and not much of a flirt anymore (due to wife's stubborn rules! just kidding sweetness.) The casltle is just a cool place to check out!

Another vote for CRT dinner, my children were given three ADR choices each for our upcoming trip and my DS 10 chose CRT dinner to return to as one of his choices.

Re food my DD is a very picky eater, loves all plain meat (no sauces) and fruit and not a lot else besides. Never had any problem getting the meat such as lamb or prime rib without the accompanying jus.

I'll be taking DS - 8, 14 on the next trip. Not their first choice, but they are not complaining either. DD - 5 inisists she eat in the castle. We have always gone for breakfast, but are going for lunch this time. When DS was younger, the princess made a fuss over him, kissed him, etc. I didn't see that on our last visit, though. Both boys were quite happy to have their pictures taken with the princesses.

If he's always wanted to eat in the castle and now the opportunity has arrived, I'd say go for it. The princesses will get a kick out of him (used to 4-10 year old girls, I'm sure) and likely give him extra attention. However, if you want the princesses, make sure to book either breakfast or lunch - dinner doesn't really have character dining.

We just ate there in Dec. with my 11 and 8 y.o. boys. I told them they were going and they'd be gracious about it because it was my 40th birthday and I wanted to eat in the castle! They're always shy, so they didn't talk much to the princesses, but they weren't rude either :). The princesses asked them if they wanted their pictures taken and they said no, so I had my pictures taken instead and loved it :cloud9:

We went for lunch and really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. My 11 y.o. was given an adult portion of the chicken nuggets as he didn't like anything on the adult menu and he ate all of them ;). They both loved the sundaes with the chocolate crowns, and both said they would be happy to go back again! :thumbsup2

We took DGS last year when he was 11. It wasn't his first choice, but was willing to go because I wanted to. I think he was curious about what was inside the castle, as well! He had a great time. The pricesses came and visited--he has a not-so-secret crush on Jasmine and she gave him a big red lipstick kiss on his cheek. He blushed so hard I thought he was going to stay permanently red! It was really cute.

Personally, the food wasn't worth the two credits. The experience of dining inside the castle WAS.
