12 year old activities

I have a 12 year old DD who is not interested in the kids club/lab (activities seem a little young for her intersests). She is worried that there won't be enough things for her to do. Could someone give her some ideas of things that their 12 year old girls have done.

When are you going? My DD hasn't been in 3 years, but she LOVED most of the activites in the Lab. Tell your daughter to look at a Navigator to see what's offered. (There are two sites that have examples of them.) I'm sure she'll find something she likes.

Another choice is to go to the Meet Board and see who will be on your cruise. My DD (who will be 12 1/2 in Dec. when we go), has been emailing with 2 girls and we know that two more boys are going (it's a surprise tho, so there hasn't been emailing). I don't know if the girls will hang with the boys on the cruise, but at least we know there are kids her age.

Sometimes DD came with us to Bingo. She did the family disco dancing and many of the trivia games with us.

we are going in december 2 but we looked @ the navigator & she didn't like the activities

My DD checked off nearly everything (except for flubber -- that's getting SO old!)

You should still try to meet folks on the Meet Board. All she needs is a good pal or two, and she'll be set! (My DD and her two email pals are getting crazily excited about meeting each other and hanging out...)

At worst case, there are the movies, she could swim and hang with you!

At 12, DD found the lab to be "lame." Of course, it was her 9th time on the Magic, so she had done most of the activities. That said, the key to her enjoyment of the lab was always whether or not she made a friend in the first day or so.

Sign up for the Cruise Meets (find your thread and post) that you'd like to meet other 12 year olds. The kids can e-mail each other in advance, so boarding is like meeting old friends.

As to other activies--pool, all the deck 9 stuff, movies, the big shows, the family type shows (Mickey Mania, Walk the Plank, etc). There are family activities throughout the cruise (like making race cars, etc).

The funny thing was that the same kid who thought that painting animation cells during the lab programming was "lame" happily did just that in The Stack at age 13. Of course, it wasn't scheduled then--the teens have a list of activities they can do at any time, they just have to ask the counsellors for supplies. The group dynamic has a lot to do with happiness.

Also, point out that she won't be with 8 year olds--the 8-12 group is split into 8-9 and 10-12.
