Hi, I posted this in the UK DVC section..hopefully I can get a response here:

we recently used our developer points to book a stay at the Grand Califiornian Hotel in a few weeks...this cost us 189 points leaving 31 spare...we have also used some of our use year points for AKV in August...189 leaving 31 spare...now when we are in California it is to celebrate both mine and the wifes 40th Birthday and also our 10th wedding Anniversary...so we was thinking of upping the booking to conciege...using both the spare developer and use year points (61 in total) this leaves us 12 points short to having conciege for all of our stay...we dont really wont to borrow from next years points...what are the other options we have?..can we pay for the extra points via DVC?

No, unfortunately, you cannot pay for the extra points via DVC. Your options are:

1. Borrow from the next use year.
2. Find a member willing to transfer some points.
3. Pay cash for one night of your stay, leaving enough points to cover the rest of the nights.
4. Don't upgrade all the nights of your stay.

Go to the rent/trade board and do a post asking for someone to transfer the 12 points to you, or look for someone already advertising that they have points to transfer and contact them.

It's very easy. You pay for the points and the other member calls DVC. The points show up in your account instantly after that phone call.

Be sure to read all the sticky threads on the R/T Board before posting. The rules are very specific. The R/T Board uses a verification program that requires very specfically worded thread titiles. :) In your case, "Transfer Wanted."

BORROW! By all means, just borrow the points. It's just 12 points.

You may want to know about other options, but borrowing just postpones your problem (and it might go away on its own). You can continue to borrow from the future until you run out of next year points to borrow. At that point, make a big transfer. Or buy more points. You may find sometime in the future that you use less than your annual points and "return" some of the borrowed points. You might even bank some points. That's all the flexibility that's built into the system that you should consider first before more complicated options.

Another vote here for borrowing. Use the points when you need them, the future will take care of itself.

For 12 points, that's what I would do. Borrow.

many thanks for the replies...ive checked with MS and unfortunatly theres no conciege availability the days I want to stay there:guilty:

so I have 31 use year points that I need to either bank by the end of july or use this year....more than likely these will be banked.

I have also got 31 additional develope points...can I rent or transfer these to another member?.. I had AKV as my home resort in August 08...I cant remember when these need to be used by.

you better be sure the room you want is available before you do a transfer or borrow.
I too would just borrow

Developers points can not be transferred. You can rent a reservation that uses them.

many thanks for replies..Paults..yeah I checked with MS..and guess what?.....no availability...so thats put an end to my plan..we still got a ressie for a premium view at the the GCH though.

Chuck S - Ive only got 31 developer points left..i'm doubting i can get a reservation with them?

You never know until you try. You could book a studio for a couple of nights, and maybe try to rent that. Remember that any existing reservation, thoug, can not be offered through the DISBoard by any means, including posting, replying to posts or PM, until 30 days or less prior to the check-in date.
