12 Diets in 12 Months - Crazy Idea?

I didn't do too well over the weekend either. I think I'm up the SAME 1.5 lbs. I went out to eat twice (one at Noodles & Company and once at our local Peruvian chicken place). I always get fries there. It was my splurge. I guess that was too much! The rest of the weekend was fine.

Where I'm off is on my exercise. I haven't exercised in almost 2 weeks. I am just not motivated. I've been getting home from work late and by the time dinner is finished, it's time to start winding down for bed. Sheesh. I don't think this awful weather helps either.

I keep saying "this is the week I'm going to step up my exercise"....but I haven't!! Ugh!

I was getting pretty good about getting outside and walking. I was even going to start jogging, but the weather's been nasty here as well and now it's really been hit or miss.

I am packing my bag tonight though and am going to hit the gym tomorrow!!

Good luck!!

So..... enquiring minds want to know.... did you go to the gym? :)

I did!!!! 30 minutes on the elliptical, and I walked home from the metro instead of taking the bus, and I took the dogs out for a 20 minute walk! Woo hoo!!! I'm so nervous about this week's weigh-in because I was bad Friday night and had movie theater popcorn on Saturday

It's Friday Weigh-in Day!

How'd everybody do?

This was my first week switching from calorie counting to carb counting (20 carbs or less per day), and I LOVE my scale today! I dropped 3.8 lbs.! Not sure how that's possible, but the scale never lies, right? ;)

I think I'll be hitting goal in another week or so. Really need to figure out what I'm going to do to maintain my weight for the rest of my life - whether it's counting carbs or calories or a combination of both. Think I'll be structured during the week and record everything on MFP, but all bets are off for the weekend! Not that I'd binge (hopefully not!) but that'll be the time to have a cookie if I want or indulge in carbier foods such as rice & pasta & potatoes.

Congrats! I don't weigh in a specific day, just here and there. That's wonderful about the carb counting working so well.

I've always chosen Friday as my official "weigh in" day because I'm much more likely to be at a lower weight than on a Monday! If I'm going to splurge & eat more than normal, it's more likely to happen over the weekend! I'm too chicken to step on the scale the early part of the week, lol.

Whatever works! It can be a great motivator to see progress so it is likely to carry over on the "off" days. As an RD we are taught in school that it is all about calories calories calories-BUT in actual practice it really IS about quality of calories - and so many carbs tend to be "low" quality so carb counting tends to work better:)

3.8 pounds!!! That is so awesome! You totally should be doing the happy dance!!!

Have you tried carb cycling? I'm trying at the end of the year after I do Atkins. Maybe that's the plan that will work best for you since your body does so well with carb counting? Then you can still have your high carb days as well?

I weigh in Friday morning as well! If I am going to cheat, it's more than likely going to be during the weekend and Friday morning gets me as far away from any bad weekends as I can get!

Just read your blog post - CONGRATS!!

Thanks!!! I have been kicking butt this week, even though I'm on work travel (which is hard), and am hoping to see some great results this week....we shall see!

How's your week going? I don't know if you saw my post above, but have you tried carb cycling as a way to lose weight or maintain?

Hey there, so glad to hear that you're doing well even while travelling! That takes some SERIOUS will power & true grit!! I personally wouldn't wait until Monday to weigh though - you know what happens on the weekends sometimes!!

I'm excited for my weigh-in tomorrow. I SHOULD be at goal!! I've been really good this week so I'll be crying right along with you if the stupid scale moves in the WRONG direction!! I did make some delish dark chocolate mousse that I ate 3x this week (unsweetened dark chocolate, splenda, egg yolk, & heavy whipping cream) so that makes me a little worried...although I'm not sure why - it falls within the low carb/high fat guidelines for weight loss...

I did see your post about the carb cycling. I looked into it briefly and it does sound interesting (although complicated!!), but I got the impression it was more for body builders or at least those that work out a lot. I'm as sedentary as a rock, seriously. Is that the impression you got or am I reading the wrong information?

I'm either going to count calories at keep within the 1200-1500 range for maintenance or count carbs and keep it under 50. Whichever I choose, it's ONLY going to be during the week - weekends I am going to be less stringent with my eating and won't be tracking it all on MFP.

Hmmm... maybe I'll do a month calorie counting and a month carb counting. That way I get to eat EVERYTHING, lol.

So....did you weight today and hit your goal weight??? I hope so!!!

It sounds like you have a great handle on what does and doesn't work for you so hopefully you find the balance of the best options for maintenance!!

I did notice a lot of the carb cycling programs are for body builders but I found one of Chris Powell's books called Choose More, Lose More that I think is based on carb cycling. Haha - I actually haven't read the full book yet. It's my November diet...I'll let you know how I like it, it'll just be awhile LOL!

I don't know what it was about today, but I was so wishing to be at Disney!!!

I think I mentioned on here about being asked to do a podcast? I 'met' a woman online who has lost 90 pounds and has kept it off for 8 years. She has a website called fromfat2that where she posts inspirational weight loss stories. She'll showcase people who have lost weight and interview them on what worked for them and discuss some of their struggles.

She interviewed me for her podcast as a 'Support story' and she posted it tonight!! Check it out: http://fromfat2that.com/2016/02/different-diets/

And, while you're on her site, listen to some of her success stories. It is so motivational to me to see other people who have lost 30, 50, 100 pounds!!

Someone posted on MFP that it was fun to hear my voice after seeing my typed messages on there...LOL! It's funny but I hate listening to my voice. It's deep and scratchy and people always ask me if I'm sick! My funniest story is I met a woman who I had talked to on the phone several times who upon seeing me looked shocked and said, "You look so much prettier in person than you sound on the phone!" I just laughed and paused and said "uh...thanks?"

Of course, then other people think I sound sexy because I have that 'sick voice' all the time!

I DID hit goal... and then some!! I was blown away. Now to keep it off! For some reason, weight maintenance seems a lot HARDER than weight loss. I think it's because when we're "dieting," we're much more focused and more motivated ? I don't know what it is...but gosh, as soon as I saw the numbers on the scale, I wanted to eat everything in sight in "celebration" !! I'm TRYING to continue monitoring the carbs that I'm putting into my body, but I've gone from eating under 20 carbs last week to about 90 carbs since my weigh-in! Friday's scale moment is not going to be too pleasant I fear.

Awesome news about your podcast! I can't wait to listen to it! And I'm excited to hear all about your 5:2 diet too!
