I just called Disney to check on the status and this was a bit concerning- the girl said "no decision has been made about cancelling the 12/7 cruise as of yet, that would be done weds or thurs. as of this moment we will be sailing. If you would like you can reschedule with no penalty or get a refund"

YIKES!!!!!! I thought we were definately a go!

I wonder if they are waiting to see if people get sick on HAL again?
It seems to me they are doing everything possible so how would they know if people could get sick unless they let us on? I hope she was just uninformed!!!

Double YIKES!

I guess on Wednesday I had better call DCL and let them know that we are leaving early Thursday morning and where we will be staying so that they can contact us if they have any changes. If they give us the option to cancel, we are still going. Non-refundable airline tickets, you know!

Still, YIKES!

I cannot imagine why they wouldn't sail. The cleanup should be completed and the MAGIC should be one of the most sanitized ships at sea. Does that mean no more virus? NO -- because people will still bring it on come saturday -- and it will get passed aroud during the week. It wouldn't keep me from sailing -- just as it doesn't keep me from sending my kids to school or shopping, etc!
:D

I can't imagine the ship being ANY cleaner, and I certainly plan on going. (BTW they ARE offering the refunds/no penalty switch at this time-my opinion is if the ship isn't clean after this it never will be so why switch)
Maybe the girl was instructed to not make any promices from all the flack they got after cancelling the last cruise after saying they were not going to. (up to an hour before they did)

Hi, I am new to these boards and must let you that I have enjoyed reading all of your posts and have gained a wealth of information. Thank you. I am booked on the 12/7 cruise and ust recieved a Fed-Ex package from Disney this morning stating that they were planning on sailing on 12/7 but were giving us the option to rebook or cancel. Laurie

Nooooo! How can they do this? Ok, here I was all psyched to go thinking that all would be well (how can it NOT be after all this cleaning?). NOW, they are saying WE may not be able to go?
I seriously doubt I would switch or cancel, even though insurance would refund airline tickets...I still want to go!! (do I sound whiney enough here?):)

YIKES! I was feeling pretty good about his... Let's just assume they are being cautious and nice.

Just left a message for my AAA TA... gonna see what her take is on this...

I'll let you all know...

Webmasters....????? any comment on this????

On my knees praying!
Jodie

I didn't get one. Michelle what can you find out?

THEY ARE DEFINITELY STILL SAILING ON 12/7, I HAVE CONFIRMED THAT WITH DCL.

They are giving the 12/7 cruisers the option of cancelling with a full refund and rebooking but that's IT.

I'll be on the Magic on the 7th! :sunny:

Ya know... when you really think about it that is very very thoughtful of Disney...

Count on them to "take care of families" and do everything right...

Here is a copy of the letter body.(don't mind they typos)

"We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard on Saturday Dec. 7,2002
As you may be aware with all the recent media attendtion regarding a gastrointestinal ailment called the Norwalk virus the november 30,2002 sailing of the disney magic was cancelled. This aggressive measure was taken due to the unusual number of cases reported during our November 16 and 23 voyages. Experts have told us that this 7 day hiatus will provide the best opportunity to eliminate the virus going forward. Only the common cold is reported more frequently as the cause of illness in the united states.
Plese be asured that we are following all the recommendations of the US health service and that we are planning to sail as scheduled on Saturday December 7,2002.
Again we look forward to sailing with you and providing you the most magical cruise experience possible. If you are hesitant to join us we ahv emade it possible to reschedule you sailing for a later date without incurring any change fees. Should you siwh to make any changes or have any questions, please contact a member of our reservations cast at 1-800-939-2784"

Ok now I feel better, they sent is saying they ARE planning on sailing so that girl didn't know what she was talking about. Funny how a note can be so reasurring! :)

Ann, Thank you for posting that info...I feel better now too. I just spoke with "shel" at Disney and she assured me that they were sailing as well. BUT, she took down our hotel info "just in case". She was very helpful and pleasant and assured me that Dis is doing everything they possibly can. They have steamcleaned not only the entire ship but also the terminal bldg, the DCL busses and whatever at Castaway Cay. She mentioned that crewmembers that were normally allowed to work both ships are not being allowed to do so. "If they have been on the Magic, they are not allowed on the Wonder." She said Disney is being very careful between the two ships. Not that that does US any good, but thought it was interesting nonetheless.
Funny though, she was unaware of Fedex pakages being sent to us! Ahhhh, the workings of a large corporation.:)

Still no fedex package here.

Lisa

Thanks Ann... after talking with my TA and reading this now i feel better too!

I think Disney is just covering all the bases.

No FedEx package here either... wonder if it matters how we booked... we booked thru AAA...

Walking in a Winter Wonderland!! (and listening to Christmas music!) Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

Fed Ex just missed us! Won't get it until tomorrow now.:(

Lisa

FEDEX letter does not mention refunds for the 12/07 cruise only a possibility to reschedule. Talked to DCL a few minutes ago and they confirmed that they are not offering refunds. I asked if I could use the proceeds from our Dec 2002 Western cruise, should I decide to cancel, and apply it to our Dec 2003 Western cruise and they said they could do that. We still plan to be onboard this Saturday, but just checking options.

I also missed my FedEx guy, oh well, I know what the letter says. :)

And just to reassure everyone again, I have confirmed with VERY RELIABLE sources that unless something totally unforeseen happens (and that is not likely) they will definitely sail on 12/7. :)

Triple 7,

They did offer me a full refund for the 12-7 yesterday (Sunday 12-1) which was a major shift from Friday (11-29) when all they offered was the re-book. You have new options...you may want to call again!

eyesetc:

So... did you cancel? Or are you joining us???
