Our trip is getting close! I am so excited, but I am always getting a Little nervous about the crowds. Anyone else going this week? Or have you need the first week in January?

Any and all tips are appreciated!!

We are... Not sure I understand what you are asking otherwise... Tips... Avoid MK on NYE, we like Epcot but HS is nice and less crowded as well on 31 December.

We will be there December 31st to January 6th. We don't arrive until after dinner time though so the first night we aren't going to the parks. We'll be going to AK on New Years Day though!

Last year we arrived Dec 31 and went straight to Magic Kingdom after arriving with ME from airport at AOA. I was a little freaked out on the ME bus listening to people talk about possible park closure. We checked in at 11:00, got our room #, tossed our carry Ins, & grabbed lunch at resort. We walked up to full bus stop and the driver kept telling people to wait another bus was coming but people kept packing on worried about closure. As we were the last ones, I saw the other bus pulling around & we waited for it. We were the only people on that bus and had a private bus ride to Magic Kingdom!!! The bus driver was awesome and played special princess announcement music for my daughter! pixiedust:Y'all we walked up to security no line, scanned our bands, walked through the tunnel to see noon parade coming around. It was a Very Magical beginning to our trip! I really did not think it was crowded as I anticipated. We did our fast passes, ate our ADR at Crystal Palace, did pirates league mermaid makeover, watched early family castle show and early fireworks. Amazing New Years Eve!!!
When we got back to AOA there were characters greeting with photo ops too.
We were there thru Jan 3 and did everything that we wanted.
We are headed back this year Dec 26-Jan 1.:santa:
You will have Magical Time!!!

Yeah, same here! What park are you going to NYE??

We're planning on Epcot and its the only day I'm concerned about crowds really. Does anyone know if we'll be okay going to the park at like 8PM if staying on site? (Regarding closures and such)

I think only MK has ever gone into phased closing so epcot I would expect to be packed with those drinking in the new year but not can't get in. Parking will probably fill up so it's a don't drive if you don't need to night.

for OP: marathon starts jan 2, many schools don't go back until jan5, some don't go back until jan 9. The trip is going to start very very crowded and end just crowded.

New years day, at least until mid afternoon tends to be very empty in the parks as everyone slept in. Great time to hit MK, especially at rope drop.

The NYE midnight fireworks are the largest display that disney does at MK. You can easily see it from resorts around it and it's a full 360 around MK including closing down boats and bringing out barges with more into the lakes. If you want to skip the parks (smart) but still see it, head to poly or GF. Maybe do a dinner at cali grill and watch from up there if that's on your meal lists (and there is room, they are probably booked tight).

EDIT:

Right now I'm planning on MK for dec 30th and might do epcot on the 31st. I more want to just say I did it once and film them from inside the parks.

Gotcha. Yeah, I'm planning on going to MK on the 1st! It has a surprisingly low crowd estimation and I assumed it was because everyone was there the night before.
