What do you think about all the talk of the end of times/change of the world as we know it?

Personally I believe that the Mayan calender ended at 2012 because the Mayan culture ended.

Honestly, I haven't heard anything. :confused3 If it is the end then I guess there is nothing we can do about it anyway so live each day like it is the last and you will be fine.

If it were supposed to be a big bang and all over, Id agree. But I watched a thing on History the other day and ... ummm... I dont want to play!

For starters it makes for great TV and movies. It is one of my favorite genres. Supernatural has a GREAT season going on this.:thumbsup2 They are trying to find God to stop Armageddon.

Now back to earth....If you have people in powerful positions that actually believe in Dec. 12, 2012 as the end of all things or the second coming, you call it a self fulfilling prophecy.

The believers will base decisions on the notion that the end times are here. Which if you think about that it can be very scary actually.

As far as their being any truth to the date, I would say no.

Y2K Apocalypse anyone?

It's just another date. How many "end of days" or "this is the apocalypse" have there been in years' past?

I'm not concerned....
If it is the end of time, I have no control over it, and if it's not, then Christmas is a few days after. :)

Not gonna happen because DH and I have, even after their scholarships, 2 sizable college loans to repay for DS & DD and we know better than to think somehow we're getting out of repaying them :rotfl:

I'm with you... :thumbsup2

Then again, we can use this as an excuse not to buy presents for others... :lmao::lmao:

Every few years, somebody comes up with one of these dates.

Personally, I have no clue. I have no clue what will happen tomorrow either.

But, my DH is on a different message board that has this question, however, its a poll. I can't remember all of the choices, but I know there is nothing, end of the world, a couple others, and lastly, it will rain bacon. Raining bacon has the most votes.

Dont worry, I wont hurt u
I only want u 2 have some fun
I was dreamin when I wrote this
Forgive me if it goes astray
But when I woke up this mornin
Coulda sworn it was judgment day
The sky was all purple,
There were people runnin everywhere
Tryin 2 run from the destruction,
U know I didnt even care

cuz they say two thousand zero zero party over,
Oops out of time
So tonight Im gonna party like its 1999

:thumbsup2

again?

Seriously, how many times do we hear a prediction of the end of the world? I'll believe it when/if it happens.

I don't think anything will happen. If it does there isn't anything I or anyone else will do to stop the end of the world so I am not going to worry about it.

I'm pretty sure the Mayan calendar ended then because it just had to end somewhere. Those things were carvings and at some point you have to put down the hammer and chisel, don't you? It isn't like today when you can write an algorithm to write dates and let it churn away for eternity writing to disks.

I believe it. It will be my 37th birthday. I'm sure something terrible will happen. :lmao:

Actually, I think throwing an "End of the World" party would be fun, but with it being so close to Christmas, people are usually busy. I told DH that I want to go someplace special. Europe or Australia or Africa. Just something really big.

I'm not overyly concerned about it. I'm more concerned about the crazies who are going to do a mass suicide or something equally silly. If the world ends, the world ends. Nothing we can do about it if it really is meant to be.

I haven't heard anything about - don't have a clue what is or isn't supposed to happen..:confused3

If something "were" to happen, I guess I wouldn't have to worry about dying from the ravages of old age..:confused3
