12/16/06 10-day holiday cruise

Things are great! The weather is slowly getting better and every day is closer to cruising. Will you be riding soon?

Not until June. My horse won't turn 2 until June 10th. I will break her to a saddle before that date, but i won't try to get on her before then. There is something magical that happens with horses knees when the turn two. Quarter horses and Paint horses have soft knees until they are two. Then they harden and the joint closes. So i hope to get on her not long after June 10th. But i have a horse that I ride for this older gentleman because he is just to much older to do it. So i ride his horse for him. That i will do when the weather gets warmer which hopefully will be soon.

One of my neighbors has 2 horses. They are never ridden, just hang out. I will be taking Nick and Emmy to feed and clean them when the weather gets better. Nick and Emmy are city kids and need to see some of the country stuff.

I'm too old for this........Jared's baseball league had their team picture day and fund-raising carnival today. It was HOT out there....80°......and I of course forgot to wear sunscreen......
I "volunteered" (not) to operate the Bungee-Run. Big inflatable contraption, like those giant bouncing things. I had to stand up there and strap kids into these bungee jackets. Let's just say that it is really, really hard to walk on one of those.....but I had to stay upright, I knew if I fell down, all those little kids wouldn't be able to lift me out!
It was a nice day though, all in all......just awfully hot already.
And he has a 1 p.m. game tomorrow. I guess we are off & running! I do love baseball, though.......

Good Morning All...

Checking in here from the Winter Wonderland. Well Friday night they said 2"-4", depending on how far the storm stayed out at sea. Got up 7AM Sat and it was kinda spitting rain, light snow. Got lot's of errands so I figure I'll relax for a while before I get going. Look out the window at about 7:20 and can't see the stop sign in front of my house 'cause the snow is coming down so hard. I just knew they were wrong again . So I turn on the news, now they say 6-10". And this is that "CEMENT" snow, not the nice "fluffy" stuff. It's gonna stick quickly.

So, I promised Julia a surprise today for getting perfect spelling three weeks in a row (which is a great accomplishment for her, early major speech problems affected her ability to sound out, big time) and when I see the snow I go wake her up and either we go now or never. Her surprise was a Toys-R-Us gift card. Off we go at 8:00 am. Get to the store about 15 miles away and they don't open till 10 ...who knew?

It was a good thing though, 'cause we got to just hang out till the store opened and went to the Christmas Tree Shop (does everyone have these?) and got some great stuff, cheap for her room that we are doing over...out with the Teddy Bears, in with the flaming purple..great!!!!

We get home and already I can't get up my driveway. So I drop Julia off and figure great time to get my nails done, it won't be busy. Come back, still can't get up my driveway. In fact, I tried and slid back down with the brakes on. Gotta love New England. Thanks God for the neighbor with the snowblower who takes pity on me for having a useless husband.

We ended up with 18" of snow. It is very pretty out right now. The "cement" snow is stuck to EVERYTHING. It looks like a Norman Rockwell Painting.

Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts concerning my Dad.

jEn, I had to laugh at your "sad" comment 'cause when I got back on the boards a few weeks ago there was so much going on with Dad since I had been off and I started to post some of the things and I stopped cause I thought, "This is just too depressing", and erased it all.

Actually, part of Dad's frustration is this has been going on since the end of January. He has had no less than 20 Dr's appointments since he got out of the hospital and he doesn't know much more than he knew on the first appointment. Stacey, he is a little "out there" but not enough to take control of his affairs. He lives with us so at least I can keep a close eye on him. In the end, I guess it is his decision and I certainly can't see myself being able to force him to do anything he doesn't want. A good thing the Dr said is it seems to be contained to this one spot in the lung and is not spreading. Hopefully it remains contained.

Stacey, I must say I was a little suprised you choose bungie over cotton candy. When I took Julia to a family outing , they had one and the people had to help my petite petunia on and off of it and get her going jumping. Let's put it this way, I tipped them well.

Well, off to get ready for my wedding (instead of skiing ), every one have a great day!!!!

Jordan managed to add the purple and black to her bedroom without getting rid of all the dolls and stuffed animals.....contrast is an "in" thing in decorating, isn't it??

Last night when my back started killing me, I regretted the choice of bungee over cotton candy. I keep forgetting that I am not a teenager anymore.

Guess I will start some laundry before we head for Jared's game.

Morning all. Today is busy, Jeanne had 2 dr appointments, cardio and a new retinal guy. Then I pick up Emmy for a sleep over. The 1st time we tried this I took her home @ 10pm cause of a major meltdown, I MISS MY FAMILY. This is a trial run since Nick is having a b'day sleepover this coming weekend and Emmy will be with me. Can you imagine a 4yo GIRL at an 8yo BOYS sleepover!!!! The poor boys.

had to help a nother fire dept yesterday with a large apt. fire. mother and 4 yr old son was hurt and 3 yr old girl did not make it. 4 yr old most likly started the fire.
lucky me I stayed back at our station and didnot go on that call.

Morning all,

Sue my dd5 had her first sleep over about a month ago. The next day killed me. That night killed me too. I kept waiting for the phone to ring and hear her say that she wants to come home but it never happened. She had fun. Yours won't bug the boys too much.

Hey Lynda- should pm you my sizes since you are on a roll?

Going to look at a car today. Audi A6 wagon. Its used but still under 100k miles.I've been in new cars since I was 24. This is going to be weird.

Anybody watch Extreme home makeover last night? What a wonderful thing they do.
