we always book with them because its very easy for us to get a direct flight from BWI to MCO and they will hold the ship for us if we are delayed...

I'm definately interested in hearing about your outcome.

Right now there are little to no morning flights but 3 flights that leave around noon and get in to Orlando at 11:30 pm. I am truly hoping against that since we begged and pleaded to get off the red-eye Disney orginally told us we would have to take because I AM NOT a night person and one missed night will wreak three days of cruising.

When do you guys find out what time you are flying? :confused3

We drive--8 to 9 hours, but won't do it all in that day. We'll drive probably six after we get DSs out of school (yep, late night) then get up early and finish. Haven't booked stop yet--note to self, do that! On trip home we'll stop at WDW for a couple of days then drive straight home. :drive:

Also have always booked my own airfare on the advise from these boards since my first cruise.

We are also coming the night before (weather permitting) and staying in Port Canaveral. Hoping to get one of those #2 boarding passes ;) .

I hope everything works out OK with the flights for you, Angela

thank goodness i'm on the east coast and only have to take 1 flight....i'm glad i don't have to worry about flying from the west coast like ya'll do

What's a #2 boarding pass?

We are getting in pretty late (after 10pm) so staying near the airport is better for us than driving an hour to PC. If we could have gotten a direct flight it might have been ok but that didn't happen. Oh well.

Got a good rate on the hotel and the car rental both directions so can't complain.

I just sent you some reading material, Sherrena. It should keep you busy for a bit :) pirate: .

DCL hands out numbered cards when you get to the port and you board based on what number is on the card. Apparently the earlier you get there, the lower the number, the earlier you board. They weren't doing it the last time we sailed so I haven't had any experience with it, just read about it on the boards.

So, ladies, am I posting enough for you now?? :rotfl:

THAT'S TERRIBLE NEWS FOR THOSE OF US FLYING IN THE DAY OF!!!!!! how can they do that? i might have to hand the reins of the sailaway party off to someone else then...

They've been doing that for about a year now, Jen. I don't like it either. Apparently many of the other cruise lines do something similar, though.

well they have to have everybody on legally by 3:30...but i am one of those peole who like to be on early so that my luggage arrives early!! But this is terrible!!! i wrote my mom and i am going to have her call disney and see if we can't get the earliest possible flight out of BWI or MDT (harrisburg)..the earliest flight will probably be at BWI...

They didn't do that when we cruised before either, but I knew we wouldn't be first on the ship just because we'll still be driving...

And yes, we're seeing lots of Jack before bedtime (for me)...perfect! Speaking of which, I saw my reading material....it's a lot! I read a little this evening, but I think I'll look forward to really reading it tomorrow...

Going to talk to DH now. Haven't gotten a chance to update him in a couple of days, with his work stuff and kids' stuff. I need to let him know about his upcoming plans! :rotfl2:

You all have a good night! :goodvibes

DCL told me they could fly us in the day before, but no guarantees on time of day either way. No thanks.

I guess my mom will just have to see what can be done with them booking airfare

This is the first time we will be flying in the night before. I will get off work at noon and have time to go home and do the last minute packing without having to rush. I will also be able to put DD's presents from Santa under the tree BEFORE we leave. We will put the suitcases in the car and pick her up at school on the way to the airport so she will not even see the house before we leave! We'll have enough time to get to the airport. We have a layover in Atlanta, get into Orlando late, get our rental car, get to the hotel and sleep. Then we'll get up in the morning, have breakfast, drive to PC with a stop for anything we might want to bring on board, drop off at port, return car, DH get back to the ship, board, and have fun!!

like i said before..depending on what is going on with my flights...i might not get on early enough to scout out a good spot for the sailaway...in which case i will need to pass that batton on to someone getting on early

We will have to wait and see. When you know what your flight times are you'll have a better idea, yes?

won't know until 30 days out and then i'll have some idea...but depending on where we fly out of depends on what time we'll get there....MDT (harrisburg) means scheduled 1 pm...BWI could be as early as 11am

We stayed at Port Canaveral last year for our cruise and then got up and took the shuttle to the port. We had a #4 card. :p

When you arrive at the port you get a boarding group time. I.E. card #.
