12/10/05 ~ Anyone else cruising.....??

Angie,

Yes, Narnia premieres Friday, December 9th. So, hopefully they will do the Disney PremEAR and show it a few times...

Some other possible selections The Greatest Game Ever Played and Shop Girl(with Steve Martin and Claire Danes). My cousin and her husband have a 3 year old and an infant. They rarely get a chance to go out to see a movie. They will be happy that they will get to see a few first-run movies while on board the Magic since both sets of grandparents will be on board to babysit.

I also like the on going movies and animated features running 24/7 in the staterooms. Late at night, I just like to hang and watch a movie or two.

wow - it is really starting to get closer! I still can't believe this weekend will be October!

Not that you would know it is fall by the weather here...it is as hot as ever!

Having our normal indian summer with the Santa Ana Winds. 104 today in Anaheim. It's 11:30pm and 88 degrees still....

Well - I broke down and ordered my pirate costume last night. Now let's hope it fits right!

I also bought some black strappy shoes with rhinestones acros the toes for $14 from Dillards....they had been marked down several times! I figured I would be able to wear them with something!

And of course Lancome was having a gift with purchase! But I bought So Magic Shimmer lotion which I love! But I plan to use the GWP makeup as my travel stuff since it is smaller.

Now, no more spending til the trip! I've been saving for the past 6 weeks...(three pay periods) and I have managed to save all my dependent care money - so as long as I don't use it between now and then!

Hi,

Although I haven't been posting much, I have been reading! I told my kids they could watch Chicken Little on the ship. My neighbor saw Valiant, and said it was a stinker for kids and grown-ups, so probably won't waste precious time on that one. I want to see Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, but think it will bee too scary for a 7 and 5 year old. A little trivia, the original C.S. Lewis wardrobe is in the English dept at Westmont College in Santa Barbara CA. We took a picture of it with the kids 3 weeks ago, and if I can figure out how to post it I will!

I bought DH a black long hair wig, that is attached to a black dew-rag type hat with a skeleton on it. He is follicle-y challenged, and will love the hair for the night! I myself have nothing to wear yet. I saw the blouse at Mervyns, that was pictured, but there is no way I am fitting into anything that is Junior sized! :rotfl2:

Jordynyosh---

It was 37 degrees in Iowa this morning!!!! See it could be worse!!!

Haven't posted for a while. Did buy patterns yesterday to make pirate costumes for Halloween and the cruise. We'll see how they turn out!

I want to see Narnia too, but I am not sure about the kids either. Rachel would probably be fine, but Jacob could get scared.

I am going to take that top and belt back to Mervyn's. I did buy the biggest size they had, but since they are Junior sized they fit weird. I think I will just break down and buy a costume. Now, I just need to decide if I should go ahead and buy it now or wait until after Halloween and catch one on clearance. :confused3 I am afraid if I wait there won't be any left.

Linda, we should try to get the boys together sometime before the cruise. I know Jacob would like that.

It was 40 degrees when I got up this morning. :cold: I think it is supposed to get close to 80 today though. It is more fall like here now. Especially with all of the wind we have been having.

ahh, I am pretty sure we have hit in the 90's already for today! :)

For those that have seen Narnia - what would you compare the scariness factor to? Harry Potter? Gremlins? (trying to think of scary kids movies??) Last time on the ship we got to see MIracle! DD slept through the ending. DH and I rarely go to the movies....but there are a few things I would like to see...I love scary movies myself and want to see The Exorcism one....DH doesn't care too much for the scary ones. We recently saw The Forgotten (good movie) and he watched National Treasure but I haven't watched it yet.

Who has started packing? I thought I read that someone has....I think I am going to get the toiletry bags going....we have two weekend getaways coming up that I need to pack for. I really can't wait...now that Samantha is that much bigger and so talkative and inquisitive - I am dying to hear all she has to say. She keeps talking about the Disney boat non stop. And Haley will get caught up in all the lights and sounds I'm sure. Me, I'm ready to eat and sleep on the beach! :)

Darci, I think I'm making my kids' pirate costumes too. I am using the pattern from this month's Woman's Day magazine. It looks simple enough!

Hey Cristi,

Yes, would love to get the kids together. Maybe a place like Chick-fil-A, so they could eat, then go run around together. I live off Broadway, but can go wherever. I just hate McDonalds though! Saw that Supersize Me movie and have stayed away since! Are weeknights too hectic?

Linda

Linda, I agree with you about Mc Donalds. We saw Supersize me also and can't go back. Chick-fil-a sounds good. Do you have one close to you on Broadway? We usually go to the one at C470 and Kipling, but we are in between there and Broadway. Weeknights can be hectic, but it just kind of depends on the week. Mondays don't usually work very well. Let me know when you are thinking about.

I spent 2 years in Portland, OR when I worked as a corp trainer with Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes and I miss the change in seasons. I would kill for some fall weather. Anything below 70 would be welcome. It's still 98 in Orange County today.

Can't believe the cruise is a few months away........my cousin and I started talking about it today. We were talking about the possible movies choices and got psyched about the fact that they will have movie under the stars as an option.....

No time for packing here! This week has been the backpack collection for Katrina kids, the PTO fundraiser, the final collection week for boxtops, and the bookfair all day. Next week I have to kick it into gear to be ready for the carnival in 3 weeks. YIKES!!!! I also need to get the October newsletter together this week.

V, so far everyone on the site is on the cruise still. I think that there are some people who have posted who are not on the cruise site though.

Packing for me will start about a week before we leave. I try and get a rough idea of what I am wearing every day. Now before you start saying I am a little OCD, I do this to minimize what I have to pack. I used to overpack, but I got tired of hauling around 2 suitcases.......I also almost always do a few loads of laundry for trips to WDW longer than 7 days. I will avoid trying to do any laundry on the cruise.......must relax.

i did laundry on the cruise last time and it was stressful. it was quite crowded and there was a woman who did not stop her already done washing or drying until she saw someone she liked to give it to. Obviously, it wasn't me. It was another woman who came in a lot later. Even this woman looked at me in disbelief because she knew I had been sitting there waiting to do my laundry.

It's me I'm the one who said they started packing. Just things I won't be using between now & then ex: swimsuits. tolitries.

Thank you for the tip on the laundry room I will stay clear. My STL told me to bring a small bottle of laundry detergent so if you need to wash anything you can just wash by hand & hang it up in the bathroom.

On ebay someone is selling luggage tags from the DCS. I was wondering are these the tags given to us from disney to put on our luggage. The ones I saw are flat and oval shapped & have the characters faces on the tags. I tjought about bidding on them for scrapbooking. But if we get them anyways I don't see any since in bidding on the tags. Thank you Diana

I did a couple loads of laundry on our first cruise. I didn't have any problems. DH did a snorkling excursion in St. Maarteen & we stayed on the ship. I took DS to the club then put 2 loads of laundry in. DD & I went to the pool after the clothes went in the dryer. You can put another round of coins in the dryer & it will just go for double the time. ;) I put both washer loads into one dryer. It always takes 2 rounds to dry things anyway. I set up DD in the room with some ice cream & a movie then went to pick up the laundry. I have heard that it is terrible on sea days though.

Disney Di, yes those are the tags you get for free. As many as you want. You will be given the character that goes with your room, but you can go to guest services and they have racks of them. You can take one of each character for scrapbook if you want.

Jordan, it finally started raining here in Portland today. We have had quite a long dry spell, for us anyway. Lots of the liquid sunshine coming down today though. Lots of accidents on all the freeways and roads too. Funny that folks here forget that the oil from the summer on the roads gets VERY slick when it first starts raining. You'd think they's know that living in the northwest.
