My mom has been watching the kids for me today. I am scrapbooking 10 cookbooks and 5 calanders for chirstmas gifts. My grandmother passed away 2 weeks after my DS was born. I am taking 22 of her best recipes and making them...along with some of her pics. It is turning out really well...but it is hard for me (emotionally.) She was the first person to pass that was someone really important to me. She and my Grandfather were the farmers and they gave land to each of their kids..so we all lived on the farm. She had 4 children and 6 grandchildren. I am making a cookbook for each. I will give them out at our family Christmas party. We are having it really early this year because my immediate family will be in Disney. I must have them complete by the first Sunday in December. The only people who know about the cookbook other than my DH are one of my aunts (she had access to the recipes) and my Grandfather (I didn't want to surprise him and upset him at the party.) My grandmother was a fabulous cook. In the winter she would bake about 500 pies plus cookies and cakes each week for market (they were produce farmers and this was their income when there were no crops.) In the spring she would continue with the pies and add candy for easter. I included a few pie and candy recipes. I also included the recipes for the dishes she would make for holidays. Anyway, I need to get back to that.

I think this is a bit too long Posty Queen!

Break it up!

I skipped some pages because Amy pm'd me and told me she was being naughty . . .

Just wanted to say Dennis, Thank you for your service, and those of us who have not had that experience can never truly understand what you must have gone through- please forgive us for not always being able to relate . . . Our service people are heroes.

Whoever posited (yes it is posited, not posted - if anyone is trying to catch me in a mistake) the question on saving this thread, I would love to know if that can be done. It would be really cool. Even if we can only save it electronicaly, it would be nice. Someday they may need room on the server and need to delete us! :rotfl2:

And we'll get it certified with the pharmacy board in Oregon... my DH doesn't post, so we can skip the medical certification... who needs to OK for Brandi?

Thanks John, I really do appreciate all of the Thank Yous. And I do understand about being able to relate.

Hey, Maybbe we can all print out a section, or copy a section to disc, which we can then make into a book. ???? Is that possible. A xerox machine book. That would be Cool to the max!

Wow. That is SOO much like what happened with my mom...she's been gone 2 years in Jan. She developed a rare cancer; they found it in Summer 2004 and didn't actually find the true diagnosis until Fall 2004.

She had started going down hill Dec 2004; we went up to see her and she was in very bad shape, nothing like I've ever seen before...I didn't even recognize her. They had basically pulled her from treatments and she was living out her time at home.

I came up and stayed around the holiday and she was fairly stable. I went back to MD as I was missing alot of time at work I couldn't afford; 2 weeks went by and nothing new...the next weekend we decided we could get back up to see how she was doing. We showed up and the house was full of people...aunts and uncles I hadn't seen in decades....my brothers...the first words out of my mouth, "wow, its a full house...". Then my dad came to me.... :sad2: She had passed shortly before I arrived...

That is pretty cool! Now if I could just interface it with my Palm based cell phone......hmmmm.??? That would be awesome.

Dennis,

If you GetaMac, you can theoreticaly mesh your calendars on the palm and the iPod.

I say theoreticaly because I have not had the time or energy to make it work!

I am sure that John would back me up on this.....Mickey Pastees are just WRONG! (funny, but wrong)

Well . . . .

In the right application, I could force myself to find them somewhat acceptable . . .

I saw something about it today and apparently it isn't getting very good reviews. But they do predict it take a chunk from Apple... :stir:
