11 Year Old Boys Treat Bags.......

I think the general response is CANDY! I think between sending them home with candy and silly string, the parents will be happy with me!:)

:lmao::lmao: That is a good call though and you do not need more :thumbsup2 (BTW--I always do goodie bags and DD13 still got one at the last party she went to--for a friend turning 15:goodvibes)

other good things that i did not see mentioned (DS is 11) are frisbees, water guns, water balls and half way decent yo-yos.

Thanks! Yo-yo's would be good too! My kids love them....;)

Do your DD's friends like sports?

For my DS11's birthday, we gave a bag with 2 mini pennants - a Badger pennant and Packer pennant (yes, we are from Wisconsin) and candy.

At a few of his friends' parties, they gave out baseball card packs or team set card packs, like Brewers or Packers, plus candy of course!

Happy Birthday to your DD!!

Oh, thanks everyone! Some great ideas here! I do have to agree, that kids (of any age) are never too old for treat bags! So to those of you that don't bother, thank you but I would never think of not giving one. That's just a personal preference and not one for etiquette sake, by any means. It's also something that my daughter and I plan and do together, so maybe I'm a little selfish in that respect!

I agree with you 100%. You weren't asking IF you should give goody bags, just what to put in them. The kids I know look forward to them, but might act "too cool" to show it.

A note about candy. A lot of kids this age already have braces. My son is very disappointed when he gets treats he can't eat. Anything that is sticky is out of the question. He can't have gum, gummi anything, carramel anything, anything with nuts, shouldn't have hard candies. Our ortho is pretty strict.

He can have reg. Hershey Bars, 3 Musketeers, Reese Cups, Pop Rocks, Pixie Sticks (which I despise). You get the point. Nothing gummy or cruchy.

If any of the boys have braces, just something to keep in mind.

Silly string is a great idea.

I never thought of the braces thing....although I think we are o.k. with that. Good thinking though......;)

Another great summer treat is the Flavor Ice popsicles. Just tie a bunch together (unfrozen) with curling ribbon. We always do this for our end of the year favor at school. Ten of those tied together looks impressive even though they are super cheap!

My son is 10 & still likes receiving treat bags. I think the silly string is at the top of the list along with the farty putty. Another great treat idea is the Pop-its that come in a small box.

Kids LOVE these & they are super cheap. Target usually carries them.

It was at age 11 when my son told me 'no gift bags' for his party. We had already stopped the kids from bringing gifts for him and started asking for a donation to the Humane Society or Homeless Families Foundation locally. It wasn't just us, the rest of the families had stopped parties or done the same thing. Personally, I don't see the need to load them up on junk. We have cake, pizzza and drinks. They hang out, play games and listen to music. The themes stopped around then too.

At first I was thinking, they don't need goody bags at that age, then I got thinking that whenever we attend a DVC party or get to our stateroom on the cruise ship, I can't wait to see what goody bag I am getting, and heck I'm 40! So yeah, people of all ages like goody bags!

You've gotten some good ideas. Mine is 9 and he would love candy, silly bands, glow sticks, water guns, etc. FYI, if mine got Flarp in a goody bag, I would have to take it away from him. My girl friends and I have had many an awesome night with a couple of bottles of wine and a can of stolen Flarp. :goodvibes
