Did anyone see this on msn.com?? They are telling tourists to avoid the Animal Kingdom! Obviously Mr. Jon Douglas has never been there.

Travel Tips: 15 Places to Avoid15 Places to Avoid

11. Orlando: Animal Kingdom
We're bound to raise the hackles of Disney-lovers with this choice. But we can't help feeling like $67 (the price of a one-day adult admission ticket) is too much to pay for a theme park that, aside from a couple of shows and roller coasters, is essentially just a zoo. If you're going to plunk down that much cash for your family at Disney, we think you're better off at the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. And for kids who are interested in animals other than the Mouse, we recommend the Central Florida Zoo, where you'll see hundreds of critters for under $10 per person.

Huh?

AK is a favorite of ours! Well, that's more room and less lines for the rest of us! (Although I really wonder how many people will follow that, since everytime we've been in AK it was packed!!!)

Crazy! There is definately way more to see then a "couple" shows and rides and the rest can in no way be compared to an ordinary zoo. He obviously has not been there and not done his research, either that he is one of the people who just doesn't get it!

:sad2: :sad2: I really doubt the writer has ever been to AK. C'mon where else (unless you actually go to Africa) can you go on Safari??? A couple of coasters?

Stupid people! Just because it has animal's doesn't make it a zoo and quite frankly I'd rather pay $70 for AK than $10 to see animals in cages! AK is my fave park and I think this is just stupid! Anyone know if we can complain about this anywhere? I think we should all complain and get it removed!

I wouldn't fathom paying just a one day ticket for Animal Kingdom so I agree with that. Animal Kingdom is a 4 hour park for me. Thats all I need to get what I want to see. 67 dollars isn't worth 4 hours.

However, as an Annual Pass holder I dont mind spending some time at Animal Kingdom since I know I can somewhere else later.

We have annual passes, and we NEVER do AK for more than 1/2 day, EVER. I cant stand the masses of people any longer than that, so in a way, I agree. But its NATAZU!!! :cool1: We do it at least twice every trip.

We always enjoy Animal Kingdom, It has alot of cool things to do there. Obviously the person who wrote this doesn't enjoy this type of park. To bad for them. My family will continue to enjoy it!!:wizard:

(Newbie here, first post!)

I gotta say, I kinda agree with that....I was not all *that* impressed by AK myself. I think if you live in an area of the country where you have access to a great zoo (which I do--St. Louis), it is not a big deal to go there. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed AK; I just don't think it's worth the same price of admission as the other parks. It does have some cool rides, but it's not an all-day trip for me. Yes I understand it's not just a zoo, but it seems a big part of it is the animals, and if you have access to a good zoo then that part is kind of lost on you. JMHO!

:welcome: to the DISboards!!

Who in the world pays 67$ per day to go into any park?

Under that criteria, animal kingdom (as well as several other orlando parks) I wouldn't do. However, for 20-30$, i think its well worth it.

When I read an article like this, I think the author just doesn't get the whole "DISNEY THING". He doesn't feel the magic. It's not just a zoo - it's a Disney Park. That's all I need. I was at AK for the first time back in March and I just loved being there. No, it doesn't have as much to do as the other parks, but when you're in Disney for a few days to a week, AK is a great addition to the whole experience. Just go to a zoo? That's not why I go to Florida.

I never make a trip to WDW and buy 4 single-day tickets.

If you buy a multiple-day MYW ticket, the price is NOT $67 to see DAK anyway.

I consider ALL the parks as different "branches" of the WDW experience.

FotLK, alone, is worth a LOT!

He's probably one of those guys that doesn't like roller coasters either. Does anyone even pay the full one day one park pass price? I thought everybody in this day and age took advantage of all the deals so that point is meaningless. He is probably just a journalist that got stuck with doing a review of AK. He probably wished the whole time that he was back in his office reporting a scandal on some politician like most journalist live for.

While I wouldn't pay the one day admission price to go to AK I enjoy it when I do go. But, the writer of the arcticle is entitled to his opinion just as we are entitled to ours. I don't agree with him but oh well, it's been my experience that internet arcticles aren't worth much anyway. What was that one earlier this month about the top theme parks in the US? Six Flags Texas was rated #1! YUCK!!!!!!! The Disney theme parks weren't even in the top 3! Just goes to show you how much research they do...

hmmmmmm great zoos. lets see..... i grew up un san diego which has the best zoo in the country if not the world. now AK isn't a zoo in the terms of what people goto see. animals roam free not caged. i don't remember seeing a bat fly by my face at any zoo(i did at a cave once) i did get a fox bat to fly by on early moring at AK. the world class shows at AK spank any zoos show. the safari ride is way better at AK then at the san diego wild animal park(not by much though) disneys animal kingdom is so much more then a zoo. yes a one day park admission is almost $72 by most people who goto WDW spend 6+ days so the cost drops. i usually spend 1 1/2 days at AK per trip.so much to see and do. JMHO

You know what they say about journalist? You know the difference between a child molester and a journalist? Molesting children is against the law. Ouch, I know thats probably harsh, but hey, I can't stand most journalist.

Totally O.T. here, but that JOKE doesn't make any SENSE!

Leaving the distasteful (and inappropriate) aspect alone,

there is simply no relationship between the first and second parts.

Its like, "Know the difference between a fish and a tree?
- The fish swims."

Humor 101.

i myself love AK. and if the readers of this guy's article follow his advice, that's okay - more room for us to walk around and less time we have to stand waiting in line for those people who really don't want to be there!! :cool1:
