Anyone here ever do a long trip like this?

We originally had a 7 night trip followed by a 4 night cruise planned. Due to expenses, we scrapped the entire thing.

Now, we are re-thinking. We still have the (non-refundable) airfare. I can book POR with free dining for the entire duration. I'm just wondering if it would be too much?

I think that's great! Not too long at all for my family.

Check-out my countdown ticker below...we're staying a little longer than you! Can't wait!!

(and if we could stay longer, we would..but due to DH's work schedule, we can't)

I think that is perfect! We are going for 14 nights in August. It gives you extra time to relax and really smell the roses!

Thanks for the tips and advice. You guys are making 11 nights sound luxurious! :) DH and I are going to sit down tonight to discuss our options. :)

We have never done a trip that long *sigh* but would  to!

I'm taking DDs on our longest trip next week. We'll be there for 6 days/5 nights. I still feel like we're rushed.

We commando Disney. We're already planning a trip October 2010, need to take time to smell the flowers on this trip, knowing we'll be back in just over a year.

We have done 8 and 10...and always wanted more time.

July 18 we are headed to the CSR for 11 nights...you can take your time and actually relax...get your Fastpasses as you can and not worry about lines.

We are actually only doing 7 days in the parks and leaving the other days for enjoying the Resort...going resort hopping...Downtown Disney...and maybe a trip to Daytona.

Sounds like the perfect trip. Ours, being so short, don't leave time to go to the resorts or DTD. I'd kill to have at least one 'day-off' where we just hung out and did the pools, etc.

We are staying 14 nights. We did that last year also.

Even with the 10 day park pass we still have some days to rest at the resort. You will have lots of time to see the things you want.

We did a 13 night and 14 day trip in Dec to Jan. We had a blast. We took our time with everything. The kids did everything they wanted to do. Something was going on everyday. I say do the long trip.

Actually yes! We go about every two years. and my mother, who is a DVC member, likes to bring lots of family with her. ( which includes me, DW, DS1, DS2 DD3, my brother, aunt and kids, cousin and kids among others ).

Anyway, she always feels a week is way too little to really relax and have fun, so we typically go for about 10 days. Last year, we went for 11.

It's Disney, it's never too much. There's SO much to do with SO many options, we usually leave feeling like it's STILL not enough!

After our first family trip in 2000 we began taking trips that were 10 nights. It's wonderful! As PP's have mentioned, the extended time enables you to slow down and enjoy everything. We always build in several empty days and allow the kids to choose what we want to do from beginning to end. We're going for 14 nights at Christmas, and we can't wait!

We have done 11, 8, and 11.
I think the perfect length for us is about 10 nights. It gives us about 7 park days and a few "down" days to lounge around the pool or do downtown disney or check out other resorts.
This December we are going for 7 nights, due to other time constraints. I'm really concerned about having so little time, but it's all we can do.

I was curious to hear everyone's opinion on longer trips. We usually spend 2-3 nights at WDW during our annual summer trip to visit my in-laws in Tampa. Now this summer we'll be there for 9 nights! We'll be away from home for 2 weeks... and I can't wait!! We originally planned a 5 night trip but it just seemed too rushed. We are always rushed on our short trips with only 2 days in the parks. With 9 nights we'll be able to slow down for the first time! I am in heaven. :cloud9:

We did 10 days last May. It was perfect. You can have days you don't go to the parks at all and just relax around the resort. Days to visit downtown Disney. Even at the parks, you can relax because you know you'll visit each park another day.

We love our long (2 week summer trip). We'll actually be in Disney for 16 nights end of June/beginning of July. The longest trip we ever took was 18 nights (15 at the GF, and 3 at HRH). The long trips really give you time to enjoy the parks, enjoy the resort and not feel so wiped out after the vacation is over!

May family did a 12 night trip 2 years ago and it was the best. We had time to relax, go to the waterparks etc. I cannot imagine going for 7 days or less:eek:
We would wake up early, go the to parks, have lunch and then head back to the hotel for the afternoon for a swim and a rest.. then back to the parks and we still did not get to everything on the list....I would say go for it for sure!

We loved our 11 night 12 day vacation last year. We got 10 day park hoppers and got tickets for MNSSHP for one night. We used the day of the party to relax at the hotel and swim. We used our other additional day to go to Downtown Disney. We loved not feeling rushed.

We have gone for 10 and 11 nights, it is perfect. Good luck with your decision.

We did 11 nights last year (4 at POFQ, 7 at WL) and it was great. It was wonderful to not feel rushed and to really sink into vacation mode. I'm taking the kids by myself this year and we are going for 7 nights, but next year's trip (when DH is with us) will be at least 10 nights.
