11 ms reservation - can I combine two UY but same home resort?

hi..
I'm short in 21 pts for a 11months reservation, one possibility might be buying (transfer) from another member... but do I have to ensure the same UY (and same home resort)..? or can I get different UY and still be able to do the reservation?

ps. the other possibility is buying OTP but MS told me that I could do that at 7 ms only, and I'd like to secure it

Though transferred points retain their own use year, a transfer results in your being able to make a single reservation using those points along with yours, as long as you are not trying to make a reservation that occurs before the actual use year of the transferred points begins since transferred points cannot be borrowed. However, those transferred points also retain their resort identity and thus can be used at 11-months out only for the resort to which they belong.

They do not need to be the same UY, but if you want home resort priority, they do need to be the same resort. What you need to make sure is that whatever transfer you receive, those points can be used for the trip.

Transferred points can not be borrowed, but they can be banked. You will have to call to use them as I have read that booking with transferred points more than 7 months out doesn't work on line.

For example, if you were traveling in January 2023, you want to be sure to get points valid for that 2023 trip without needing to borrow them. Also, transfers are one in/out of your membership per UY and so getting a small amount can be tough to find.
