Hey all, I have another question. Has anyone had any issues booking out 7 months in advance at a crazy time such as Christmas?

Yes. Wanted BCV one bedroom for mid-Oct 2012. Tried to book at 7 months out and nothing more than a day or two was available. I did get BLT one bedroom for eight nights in a row.

Anything is possible but I would book sooner rather than later for Christmas or any other major busy time/holiday.

here's a detailed thread covering availability at 7 months for December bookings:

all of the period from thanksgiving to new years is pretty busy for DVC bookings. i would not wait till the 7 month window to get a reservation nailed down.

As more people buy, booking at 7 months will only became more of a challenge. There are popular resorts and popular times of the year.

Many have purchased at Aulani, Vero, HH, and VGC who vacation at WDW. Some buy at the least expensive WDW resorts with no intention of staying there.

All of this adds to the 7 month rush and limited availability.

Plus when another member can book your first day six days before you can (because they booked seven nights and their last night is the same as your first day), it gets harder.

I don't understand this: "another member can book your first day six days before you can...." I have read a similar comment before and am trying to learn what this means. Can you explain in baby steps for me? Thanks!

you can do it also, you just have to plan ahead - just do the part in parentheses..."because they booked seven nights and their last night is the same as your first day."

that is called "walking a reservation" - see the other (long) thread here...

I have never had a problem booking at 7 months and getting what I wanted. I have even had luck at spring break and Xmas! This year I was able to switch resorts & get WLV 1 bedroom two weeks before our trip! (12/21-12/26) I'm not saying that you will have the same experience, but it is possible!

If my reservation starts on Dec 25 and your's starts on Dec 31, I can book Dec 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31 and you can't get your first night. Then you try to book Jan 1 and I have cancelled Dec 25 and booked Jan 1 back on Dec26. You lose again.
